High hopes for new poolroom dashed upon the rocks below!!!

I've been watching with interest the construction of a new restaurant/sports bar/poolroom going up in my town (Mansfield, Texas). The place is called Fat Daddy's. I've been investigating over the internet other Fat Daddy's locations in the area to see what kind of place to expect. From the information that I could garner (I even talked to the manager of a Fat Daddy's in another city) I was to expect some pool tables. Well, the place is 18,000 square feet and in one room off to the side there are two shuffleboard tables and four bar boxes :sorry: . Not exactly the poolroom I was hoping for. To make matters worse, they were Dynamo tables :boring2: with some really crappy cloth on them. The only upside to this place is that it's the only place in town with more than two tables in it. Hell, we don't even have an eight-footer anywhere in this town. Maybe someday we'll get a real poolhall here in Mansfield. Thank goodness Rusty's :thumbup: is only 25 minutes away!!!

Well don't count on seeing any newer rooms with 9 foot tables anytime soon.

Most new players don't want the challenge that playing on a 9 foot table creates. They seem to want to play on the kid size tables of 7 footers. Pretty depressing if you ask me. So glad I have a 9 footer.

On a brighter note I am glad that you are at least getting a new room with some tables in there. Have fun at the new spot.

Yikes talk about a disappointment.

I'm lucky as to have two decent rooms near me. The third one closed down recently. I'm quite sure that it could've stayed open if the retards running the town didn't make it a dry town. Well I should say half a dry town as the gas stations sell beer and there is a liquor store, but no bars and no restaurants selling alcohol. The town I live in is totally dry :(
That's the downside of living in the Bible Belt.
 
We have a Dave'n'Busters opening in Milwaukee soon (right by our busiest mall). I've been to the one in Chicago and they had roughly 8 tables, 8 footers, to play on. Hoping they do the same here, but for a lower price! They wanted $12 an hour in Chicago, everywhere up here is more like $8 an hour, with specials sometimes that are $8 per player for a 4 hour block.....Based on your post, I'm not sure WHAT to expect anymore.
 
Dave 'n' Busters get very expensive. Here in southern California I've seen $20 per hour on weekends and they always seem to have a waiting list. (However that was last year, it may be different now!)

Not the best tables, no Simonis, etc. but a clean atmosphere and reasonable food. They are definitely not trying to target Pool players but families and friends out for the night or corporate parties.
