. Holy crap. Well I was only a few months off.
My copy says 1977. Google search also says 1977.
All this includes hundreds of color photos depicting various situations which allows the reader to form their own solutions before I show you mine. I then explain why I feel my choice is the correct one.
"One Pocket,A game of Controlled Aggression"
by Tom wirth
I have been around pool for over 60 years,as a kid I bought every book I
ever found, only to have wasted my time almost every time
with the exception of Ray Martins and maybe 2 others,I learned next to nothing
The new books are complex ,hard to understand, technical and confusing
But then i saw Tom Wirth play pool,so I bought his book for about $60
It is well written, contains many examples and explains the essence of the game.
It has great philosophy of the game, the why and wherefore,it explains in a way that
a man with a teachable spirit might actually learn to be a great player
It didn't waste any time with stance, posture, stroke etc, filler material that most books include
because they actually a \have little to say
This book speaks to the heart of the matter, how to think and shoot in such a way as
to control the game
If i were not at the end o my playing days,I would go to Florida and spend a few days with Tom.It would be worth a few thousand dollars to master aspects of the game that
I never even knew i didn't know
I am not a good pool player but I am considered a good mover, one of the best
in Dallas, but I realized after reading Tom's book that I was way too passive
my offense was weak and Tom demonstrated to me that offense is what
its all about in one pocket
Not crazy wild shots.not gopher shots.
If you don't know what I am talking about
Buy the book Do yourself a favor,
You can learn more in a few hours than you will in years
without it,in fact you may never understand what one pocket is all about
unless you buy this book
Dean
Dean. Regardless of how much you play or compete. Do yourself an incredible favor. Go to Florida... meet Tom... take a lesson .... listen to him critique OnePocket. It is an experience. Aside from his knowledge and outstanding ability to teach he makes you want to play/think better and stay creative. He is such a positive force. His love for the game and desire to pass it on definitely rubs off. A very special person. Tom is one of a kind. Aside from your teacher he becomes a friend. And a very sincere one.
