High straight pool run for women

Jean B. had many runs over 100 balls. She was by far the best women player of her era. And probably the equal of Allison, Karen and Jeanette. I suspect she could still compete on the highest level if she so desired. But I doubt we will see her again. She appears to have no interest in playing competitive pool anymore.

Jean B. must really have given up on pool to pass up the IPT and a guaranteed $30,000 as a HOF'er.

Yeah I think Linda was only partly right. I think it also has a lot to do with the men constantly putting them (women) down and saying they're not as good and can't be. I wonder why the men do that?? I'm a man and I've never felt the need to downplay or degrade women in pool. It's a skills sport....anybody can do good.

I hope your not referring to my question (and I don't know because it wasn't addressed to anyone), I just keep hearing that as part of an argument and find it weak (sorry for spelling).

I see no reason why it should be used, and I do feel that there are plenty of Pro calibure female players.

Wasn't referring to you but was partly addressing your question. I've noticed a lot of men down play womens ability to play and it does have a psychological effect over time. Earl made a few statements of the type before the IPT. Gerda took it upon herself to kick his butt! Karen has won tournaments with strong mens fields. The last Viking event Monica placed 3rd but I think beat numbers 1 + 2, she lost second time around.
The women can play, it's just a lot of people aren't going to give them credit until the number 11 womens player can beat Reyes or something equivalent.

Hey Linda! Long time no see!

Just curious - where did you find a 1987 match of Jean playing straight pool? Not long ago I asked Accu-Stats if they had some Balukas matches, and was told they don't have any. Hmmmm......makes me think I need to come to your house and *borrow* some videos!!! LOL.
