Higher potential resale value?

Schon Cue

Hi,

Here is my .02 If I was buying a Schon I would buy the cue from Troy (Koinnkid) he is a fair and honorable person and most of all his word is golden. The dealings that I have had with him went smooth as silk.
If you want a "Schon" then buy a Runde cue ( Bob Runde was a partner in Schon for a number of years) if you want that type of hit and also want the best investment in that type of cue. Most of all buy what you like and Give Troy a call

Thanks

The reason to buy a schon is for playing, if you can buy a LTD for $650, you will be able to play with it for a few years and always sell it on ebay for $500. Most used LTDs in good shape with 12.5 or bigger shafts go for $500 or better. If you can play with a cue for 2-3 years and still sell it for a couple of hundred less, thats not a bad deal to me. Plus they are great cues to play with, very consistant. Just my 2cents.

In that price range ($650) there are a lot of options in true custom makers. You are inhibiting yourself by looking at it as a "what's the least amount I will lose?" mentality. If you like Schon, then buy the one that you like. Otherwise, give Jeff Olney, Troy Downey, Bryan Mordt or even Carolina cues a shot. But in the end, it's what you like, and not what anybody else thinks, that matters. We will all have opinions for you, but they are just that....
Someone had a Jack Madden on here for 650...in my opinion they hit very similar to a Schon but even better.
I wouldn't waste the money on a Schon if I could get a Madden for the same price.
I bought a MacDaniels Mac Attack for $500 in perfect condition...seems to me I'd buy that all day long over a Schon and STILL get my money back when I wanted to.

I would recommend buying an older Schon if you are going to buy one. I thought the older ones hit a little better but I could be wrong.

I purchased a SP-49 a few years back for $300. I used it for about 2 years and sold it for $400. I thought I was lucky to get my money and make a little bit off of it. I went out and bought the Schon Elite 16. I paid $850 for that and used it a year and sold it for $800 to buy my Joss West.

Some other options: I would look into a Jeff Olney 5/16-14. You get a custom cue and it should hit similar to a Schon. Other options that compare to a Schon are an Espiritu and a Joss.

Some of the older Espiritu's hit really good. I highly recommend them. I also carry a Joss Sneaky Pete in the trunk of my car when it is needed at the bar or what not. My Joss West hits better than the Joss but I don't think they are far off. I paid $100 for my Joss SP and it is a great bargain, and I hate wrapless cues.

You can get a plain Espiritu for about $200-250 I am guessing. Very similar hit to a Schon.

Look at all options before jumping on a Schon. They hit good and I liked them, but there are other options if money is tight.

i have 1 runde cue left for sale $850 ss joint 2 shafts. it is brand new made in the last couple of months. it will increase in value.
