Thorsten Hohmann...
This guy is special. Truly someone to learn from. He always plays the right shot. He never takes chances he doesn't have to take. He's willing to play elaborate position in order to make sure he always has insurance balls before going into clusters. He knows how the clusters are going to break apart. He has near flawless cueball control. I really wish I had seen more of his matches live at last week's event.
Besides his outside english power draw break shots, another thing that I'm going to work on is the way I believe he chooses to control cueball speed. What he seems to do, and it's something a guy I know does who I should have listened to, is accelerate the cue with the same force on every shot, controlling speed simply by how far back his backstroke goes before beginning the acceleration forward. He has another match tonight. Look closely at how he does this.
He's truly awesome to watch. His is the new, better way to play straight pool in my opinion.
