What's a good method for holding metal for cutting inlays on the cnc ( silver, copper) . If gluing to a sacrifice board how to keep from bending when removing. Thank Doug
I glue all of my inlay material to .125 hardboard using 3M 77 contact cement. To remove the inlays I flow a little Prepsol (Used to clean and degrease car bodies before painting) which melts the glue so that the inlays fall off the hardboard. For metal, a little lacquer thinner is a little faster but it will damage imitation stone.
Glue the "metal material or whatever" it is to a thin piece of this wood ( I use paint stir sticks a lot ).
When you are done on the milling table just put the unit thru the drum sander wood side up and when the wood is sanded off, the parts are revealed and are perfect.
