nice set up you got there! heh...when they day comes that i'm making 5 times what i am now, and have a place big enough to hold it, i've found my pool table - the Park Avenue at Blatt Billiards in NYC. no, i don't know what it costs, but i'm guessing something around a Lexus.

Hey Perk-When I first looked at my house it was the basement that sold me.It had two finished bedrooms and a bathroom.The rest of the basement was unfinished and was just wating to become my bar/pool room.The hole basement is around 1700 sq ft but I framed in a good sized laundry room for my wife.It has a steel beam with only one support pole so that dosnt get in the way.I am in upstate NY and the winters get real cold so I have a wood stove that heats the hole house.After riding snowmobile all day in -10 weather its the best place in the house. Just make sure the house you buy has good drainage,you dont want water trouble.Good luck.
Its a ranch style house.The main floor is same as basement-1700 sq ft. It has a 2 car garage also.When ever any one comes over for the first time,they are shocked by how much room the basement has.Good times down there.I am waiting for my little brother to get married so I will have a reason to get some strippers over.Good place for bachelor party.1pRoscoe said:

Then we decided to move to a new house in a new neighbourhood ... I must have veto'd a couple of dozen houses, repeatedly disappointing my wife and our real estate agent. I really didn't care about the agent as she continued to show us houses where the basement would not accomodate the table. The wifes disappointments were however felt in various ways, none too pleasant I might add 
We finally found a house under construction and after moving a post and replacing a beam (only a $1000 upcharge and another week or so in the dog house... ) we had a house with a pool room. The general wisedom is that you need 5' on all sides of your table. I have a bit less on one side, it's annoying. But even if I did have 5' all around, there is no room for many friends when playing. If I have three buddys over to play, we all get our exersize moving out of each others way. So, what I think one really needs is 5' around 2 or 3 sides, and then about 10' or 15' on 1 or 2 sides for seating/bar/stage etc. My trouble is that I do not want to jeopardize my marriage by moving again
I'll think about posting pictures, but really it's just an unfinished chunk of basement with a Brunswick Bristol II in the middle.

I currently have the crowded pool room with my 7' Valley. I dont mind it right now, but want a 9', and we have talked about building a detached garage, and making our current attached garage a huge pool room. Still might be an option.
But, my family has some land available with a well/septic, and all of a sudden my wife wants to sell our current house, make a profit, and put a double wide on my family's lot. I wasnt a fan of this idea, until she worked me up about a basement. It might be possible to build the basement with the profits from the sale of my current home, then take a loan (which would be cheaper than my house loan now) for a new double wide.
I am not sure I like her idea, but if I could design something sweet like this in the basement, I could really care less about the rest of the house. Wouldnt be able to get to 1700 sq feet like the basement in these pictures, but I would be able to get over 1000 or so.
Might have to look into it this summer. I dont like change though, and the thought about going through the process of getting another house/loan/headache again, sucks!

Perk-The idea of a double wide isnt a bad idea.They are made so much better now then even 5 years ago.Do the basement right with good drainage and an extra high ceiling and you'll have a place just waiting for your dream pool room. Do the landscaping right and you could have one end exsposed with an entry and full windows. I loved thinking about how I was gonna do my room and then making the plan come true.It makes the house soo much more fun.Proud to have friends over.Take your time and do it right the first time even if it means more money.A house is a huge investment.
