Home table and hardwood floors?

I have Brazilian Tiger wood which is also one of the hardest woods.
It is not the wood that gets damaged but the finish.

Laminate flooring actually is more resistant to damage, which is kind of weird.
Laminate flooring is synthetic man made compressed core material with a paper photograph of wood laminated to it with a super tough finish.
Hard wood is a natural product with cells that can compress.
Good laminates 1/2" (12MM) are almost bullet proof.
Good ones have a wear layer of 12 mils or 12/1000th of an inch.

diamond recommends 13’6” minimum for their 8 foot table. My room measures 13’4”. Length wise I’m more than good
I'm 13'11" so I think you'd be happier with the 7. I think that I would really miss that extra 3" a side. I'm actually surprised that Diamond recommends 13'6" as a minimum. I think a couple of coats of paint would push my room under the limit.
