Homemade pool table light

Ordered mine today, the table is installed and still having some issues but I figure by the time I finish the light it'll be ready to go. Using lights bought on amazon 5050 led 16.4 feet of it. Not sure of design.

what voltage are you running the leds at? typically those strip lights can go up to 12 volts which makes them extremely bright. I've use these on my rc helicopters and you can see them clearly from very far away on 12V

opps hadn't realized this is an old thread

Not happy with finding exactly what I wanted, I decided to make my own. Here is my first prototype light, using LED lights. It is about 4' in length and 1/2 inch thick on the frame. Very light, maybe a pound. This is a work in progress, but so far I'm liking the outcome. Sleek, lightweight and BRIGHT.

Cost so far, about $40 in materials, and a few hours of my time.

Mohrt, this is a very nice setup. The ONLY downside to LED that I'm aware of is the way they age.

They have around a 40,000 hour lifespan, Which means they take 40k hours to deplete to around half their output (I think it's half, need a refresher course).

What this means is that over their lifespan they slowly dim until they become unusable, that's how they vary from traditional lamps that just burn out.

All this being said, it's a small downside and you should get years of use from your light before you notice it getting dim. :)

LED updates?

Mohrt,

Curious if you had any updates since you mentioned you planned on expanding the light panel. I've got a 9ft and would be interested in how much coverage you gained.
