Honest question for those that live in Arizona

The past few years there has been a lot of discussion about daylight savings time.

Those of you that live without it can you give me the pro's and con's of not adjusting the time?

I do okay when we set the clock back, but throws me way off for a while when they jump forward.

Id be more interested in hearing from Indiana. Being more North can make a bit more absurdities with daylight when it isn't needed.

I think we need more time zones to better manage daylight. That Boston and Detroit are in the same timezone makes the Sox losing daylight before 8pm and the Tigers having sun around 9pm!

The changes are jarring and should go.

I do not live in Arizona but after about 10 years of retirement keeping track of what day of the week it is becomes an issue. Daylight savings messing with me went the day I got my 1st pension check!;)

However, the serious responces should be interesting to watch...

Southern Idaho is north and far west in the time zone. Summer days are super long. People really like the long days. But I have wondered if I’d really care if it got dark at 9 instead of 10. Dunno. But I am always surprised in Las Vegas that it gets dark so much earlier.

Not sure, but if we keep daylight saving time I think spring forward Monday should be a national holiday. I dislike that change. But have gotten more golf in with it I guess.

Lots of golfers, tennis players, cyclist, love sports after they get home from work and there’s still 3 or 4 hours of daylight left. However in Phoenix when the temperature doesn’t get below a 100 till midnight it’s a different story.

In Michigan it would be nice to be on Eastern Daylight Time year-round but the time code doesn’t allow it. In that case I’d rather the equivalent and we were on Atlantic Standard Time. Some argue Eastern Standard Time makes it safer for kids in the morning at bus stops but that neglects the fact that it’ll be dark in the morning regardless. And schools can still pick their hours. In my city there are three different waves of bell times anyway to accommodate bussing shortages. But ultimately my body really hates the change in either direction. I wish it would end.

The problem with not changing time in the summer at the Detroit latitude is that in the summer it would be light out at 3:30am. I'm just north of Milwaukee, in summer on the longest days the sun comes up around 4:30am and sets around 9pm, in the winter sunrise is around 7am and sunset is 4:30pm. To me it seems things would get worse if we didnt day light savings.

couldn't care either way.

it effects so few people more than a little inconvenience.

I live in the Phoenix suburbs. Only reason I don’t like DST is when my Sunday morning football goes from starting at 10:00 to starting at 11:00. Such bull crap.

Well I have lived in Arizona since 1998, think DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME would be real fooked up in Summer with More Day Light. We average 100 Days in Temperatures of 105+++, plus as hot as 122 I can recall.

Those who live in Arizona who do not like Arizona get packing please leave, go back where you came from, you will not be missed.

I hate the New comer to Arizona who wants to make it like California, New York, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Nebraska, etc. If the place was UTOPIA you came from why did you leave UTOPIA?

I've always hated this time change thing. It really makes no sense. This is a 24 hour soceity no need for the time shift. The amount of daylight does not matter. I love that extra hour of sleep in the winter.

Are you saying that the daytime temps would change if you adjusted your clocks in Arizona??????? When you change time for daylight savings time the only thing that is affected is the clock on the wall or on your wrist (or wherever it may be) but the amount of daylight hours is unaffected.

only if you live on a fixed time schedule will the daylight hours you see change by one hour.
