I recently spoke with a gentleman that stated that the Titlist Hoppe Pro was actually a short splice cue and most did not know this , because they've never seen one without the wrap.

He further stated that in that at one time Brunswick( towards the end of the production of thse cues) could not keep up with the demand, so they farmed out the work to japan, thus saying the alot of them were made in Japan.

Is there any truth to any of this?

The Titlist Hoppe cues that I've worked on all have been full splice. Brunswick quit making cues in 1963, I believe, and all cues since have been made by other companies. The Hoppes were made in Japan or Taiwan.

A little, as Dick said, the Hoppes with th black label were made in Japan
by Adam<Dick Helmsteter's company>

the rest - all Brunswik Hoppes were full length spliced cues.

He might be confused by the fact that Rambow cut most of his
blanks an inch or two behind the splice and joined it to a handle.

Many other cue makers used Hoppe/Titlist blanks and did the same
thing.
