i remembered talking to the seller who sold the cue on ebay (he sold it to the AZer u got from). He told me he showed it to a cuemaker and that cuemaker was dead certain its ebony. And from what i see it does look like one. Congrats on the find pal!

Want advice?

My advice is if you need to ask somebody ask me or bogey54311. We have no agenda excepting our love of the feel the full slpice gives.
The one piece titlist and other brunswick full splice cues that are one piece are always the best way to go 22 oz are best because they are a baseball bat. A cue maker can put them on thier center and cut away. If you are not a expert you can be had every time and lets rember so many cue makers now are getting the same hit out of thier own short spliced blanks why go to all the trouble unless you are a obsesive compulsive and play in the top 10% of the world you really won't see any advantage to a full splice blank but man they are pretty! Also early Helmstetter blanks were full spliced and very under rated by everyone except stone cold players. There is alot of sweet stuff out there not getting credit for what they were and are. So it really is best for most to just buy a finished conversion cue spend the cash and get what you pay for no worries and no headaches. So what if someone like me makes 40 or 50 dollars ensureing your complete satisfaction. Isn't that worth every cent.Better than wishing your money away! Nick

Hey Raist, Bama, etc - FYI, now everyone who responds to threads but Nick and Bogey have "agendas"

Nick - I would let Bogey speak for himself - I have had friendly exchanges with him before and I doubt he would want you speaking for him in such a way. Thanks, Scott (agenda-free).

Raist, I contacted an earlier owner (who bought it in the early 1960's in NYC) to get details on what it looked like when he picked it up, so that I could do an accurate restore. He was very helpful and I now know enough to get it restored back to it's 1964 condition, which I think might have been a restore of a 1940's Hoppe 2-piece since all the measurements except the forearm match another old Hoppe I have. The shaft is NOT original, which explains the weird taper. The owner who had it worked on seemed very sincere about the cue, that the ivory butt was on it when he purchased it, and wanted pictures of it refinished. He even gave details of how he cleaned it and took care of the leather grip! But what do I know - I'm not one of the two guys on the planet who truly loves full-splices and has no agenda...:( Damn, what do I do with these 7 Titlists that I despise so much?
