Got some questions on maintaining about 200 cues.

Best mid price tip machine? Willard? No room for a lathe.
How to clean ferrule's? Poly dent or toothpaste
Efficient way to eliminate nicks?
Best tips to use?
Best Glue? I use Lucite gel glue now

Thanks in advance.

Make room on a desk top. For the price of a Williard tip machine, you can buy a small repair lathe. It will be faster and do a nicer job. Use it on the bar after hours. Put a piece of plywood on a pool table and use it there. Put it away when not in use. You can also make a few bucks putting on tips for customers.

I clean ferrules with turtle wax white polishing compound. Not only does it polish the ferrule up really nice but it also does a nice job burnishing the sides of a new tip.

Take nicks out of the shaft with one of several methods. A wet bandaid, an iron and a the corner of a wet washcloth. spit, steam, search here and you will find lots of instructions.

I would suggest a semi hard tip. Triangle, Lepro, etc. They are inexpensive and will last a long time. For some reason pool rooms always use the elk master soft tips and they mushroom and generally suck after a short time.

Loctite gel control superglue.

good luck

The reason most house cues have elk masters on is because they are soft
It's a ton harder for rec players to miscue with a soft tip.
On house cues, unless the bar owner wants to pay me to take nicks out the proper way (not just sanded out!) I will just sand the shaft smoother than when it came in.
There are a couple recent threads about bar cue tipping, check them out for a bunch of good advice.

Thank you for your ideas! Is there any recommendations on which small lathe is best for a beginner??

The reason i suggested something harder than an Elk Master is because everytime I had to use a house cue the tip either looked like a mushroom or it was so thin that the ferrule hit the cue ball.

A harder tip might miscue in the wrong hands but it will last longer.

I really like the cue companion for a beginner or repair lathe, it is a solid machine that folds in half for storage.
The best thing to do is get the best machine you can afford.
Le pro is also a good bar tip, it will mushroom as well, I think triangles are a bit too hard for rec players, just my opinion though :)
