House Cues for Home Gameroom - In Progress

Instead of taking the inexpensive cue set offered by Heath Manning when I purchased my Diamond Paragon through him, I decided to have some cues custom made for guests (and probably me) to use.

I met with Scott Gilmore, who does all of Richard Black's repair work (and apprenticed under Richard for 10 years) and discussed getting some cues. I did not specify anything other than the weights be roughly in the 19 oz to 21 oz range, and I preferred a more traditional look. I had played with a couple of cues he has at the shop, and the balance was excellent and they hit a lot like Richard's cues. I told him I had limited funds, but it would be nice if one could have points. Plain Jane for the others would be fine.

We arrived on a price and I ordered them. The first one was completed a while back (it hits very similar to the Bushka Richard Black made for me), and this morning, he sent me a picture of the other 3 in progress. Wow! He has gone above and beyond what I paid for. Can't wait to get them! I'll post pictures of all 4 once I have them. Here is what I received this morning:

I'm not positive, but I think he said it's Wenge forearm and butt with Madrone Burl in place of a wrap and I think Snakewood for the rings. Forget what the dots in the rings are. The six-point red one has mother of pearl (I think) and the green one on the right has ivory inlays and silver rings.

I found a picture on my phone of the first cue he made for me. It's poor, but I'll use my Nikon to shoot them all when completed.

This one is all Maple and Ebony with Abalone inlay in the rings. Elephant Ear wrap.

Wish i could come over and play
problem is there is a big pond between us 😂
very nice looking cues

One more picture I just received. The wrapless is getting her clear coats and is almost ready for her close-up. :)

Confirmed that it's Wenge with Madron Burl. Rings are Snakewood with silver and ivory inlay.

Beautiful cues. You're a great host. Me?.. Unless my company understands proper etiquette I hide my good cues when people come over. Twice people took the nicest cue off the rack and started hitting. And these were bangers that had no idea what was in their hands.
I'd love to leave the racks full with cues like you're having made. Have fun with them. They add to the room.

Thank you! Bangers will never see these. I’ll keep in mind I need to police use. For a super Bowl party or similar, they will go in cases. That makes me think I should have taken the 4-5 cheap cues for large gatherings. May reach out to Heath and see.

Nick Varner, Dufferin and Players one piece are good players. Around $30+ to $56. Check out Seyberts and Muellers. Keep 2 or three on board.

I have a few Dufferin red leaf from 1998... had 2 converted. They came out so nice they are off the rack in cases. Bought them for company but the closet took over. I need help.
