How about a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) sticky?

I have noticed that many newer members, and even some of the long time members, often don't know about useful features like how to post a picture, or how to do a search for a specific topic for example. A Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) sticky thread would be a great resource that gives everyone a central place to check for answers to their questions, and would provide a lot of valuable information to those that want to browse it to see what they might learn. It would also make it easier to assist other members with certain things when you can point them to the FAQ where a detailed explanation already exists.

The FAQ content could be user created and PM'd to one of the mod's to be added as needed. The answers to the frequently asked questions could either be written out, or they could even be a link that goes to the explanation or answer in an already existing thread/post.

Off the top of my head some of the questions that would probably be good for the FAQ are:

How do I post a picture?
Is there a way to search for specific topics?
How can I view the reputation comments that have been left for me?
How do I give reputation to someone else?
Where can I find a list of banned members?
What is the WEI or CueTable and how do I use it?
Can I view more than ten posts per page?
Can I view someone else's reputation comments?
How do I add an avatar or signature?
What is a PM?
What is forum etiquette?
Can I block avatars from being displayed?
What are the pro's nicknames?
What is the best tip?
Where can I find the BCA/WPA/APA rules for x, y or z games?
Are there any good sites with free pool videos?
Are there any good sites for instruction or systems?

The FAQ would also cut down on the number of other sticky threads because some of them could be included such as:

What are the forum rules/policies?
Is there a club membership that comes with additional benefits?
How do you add a CueTable layout to your post?
Is there anything I should know about using Photobucket or other picture hosting sites?

I think this is a great idea, but some of your FAQs are specific to the vBulletin message board system. The navigation bar has an FAQ link for anyone who needs help with forum functions (and that could be an FAQ in itself):
http://forums.azbilliards.com/faq.php

But having a sticky with a glossary ("playing the ghost", "BHE", etc.) could be useful for new members.

Also, having a post which lists of some of the best threads over the years would be useful. Like an index of highly valuable content. Newcomers could peruse the "home table" threads, debates on body pivot, favorite drills, etc.

I think it's a good suggestion!

Great points, thanks for the suggestions. Many people seem to miss the forum FAQ in the navigation bar at the top so it would probably still be a good idea to have some of the more common forum questions covered in the FAQ sticky. Also, it does not look like it addresses (or at least it's not easy to find) a few of the common questions about rep and banned members and a few other things.

Based on your suggestions we could add:
Where can I get detailed instructions on how to use the VBulletin message board system?
What does the term "x" mean/Where can I find a glossary of pool terms?
What is the best table?
What size room do I need in order to comfortably fit an "x" sized table?
Where can I find threads of distinction? (or we could just have a threads of distinction section under the FAQs)
