My 9-ball team has solidified our stranglehold on last place, once again not winning a single match tonight. Sigh.

I lost to another SL5, 38-30. Had my chances, didn't close the deal, nothing new here, move along.... He and I always have good matches. His 8-ball team is chasing ours, and we see them again on Tuesday, so retribution is on the menu.

Get him next time bud. Analyze why you lost the match (assuming he didn't just play lights out) and then stick it where the sun doesn't shine the next time you play.

We had yet another late night (got to bed around 1130)...however our team kicked butt in 8 ball winning I think 11-2. I finally have my 10 matches required for 9 ball improving to 4-6 lol. My name came up in a board meeting recently so I am definitely under the radar as a 7.

In 8 ball I got revenge against the guy who I played like a double strapped helmet 300 lbs guy on a tricycle the first time we played losing 4-4 (he is a 6). I made a drrr mistake the first game, but then won the next 5 including 1 B&R so not too shabby winning 5-1 in 8.5 innings (1 safe played). I still made a couple of mistakes, but one was a bad bump off a ball that I had cutting a thin cut on my last ball in the side leaving me a kick on the 8 to which I hit but didn't make. I was 3rd in TG last week but this 6 points should bump me to 2nd or 1st TBD with 2 weeks left and also made my 8 ball record now 7-2 (meh but ok I guess).

not really league related....:D

they hold a handicapped 8 ball tourny every week at my fav pool hall and even though it is handicapped its a real tough tourny.

a lotta serious pool players in it..... you know the kind that don't play league. a former team mate of mine runs it and always asks me to play in it. i always declined cause i just don't like donating my lil extra disposable income.:p

well tonight i decided to enter it.

through the luck of the draw my 1st 2 opponents were not much better than me. both 3-3 races and i won the 1st one 3-1 and the 2nd one 3-2.

my next opponent comes up and i ask his handicap and he says 8. i thought damn ... an 8-3 race ....better get my game face on.

the 1st 4 racks went by pretty quick in an offensive battle with me always a couple of balls short of getting out. the 5th rack i hung my self on my last ball with it hanging in the corner pocket and the 8 hanging in the other corner. i just needed 2 inches one way or the other and i woulda won that rack. well my opponent wound up running all 7 and out.

while i was racking the 6 th rack my opponent said he got lucky that rack. i guess it kinda pissed him off and he put 3 b&r's on me to win the match.

2 things i always knew but was reinforced tonight.

1. don't miss.:D

2. you can't win while you are sitting in the chair.:(

I feel like beating someone's *ss this week in league. Who's with me? 2 weeks left...most likely we are in 1st for points in 8 ball by only about 4-5 I think TBD after scores get updated.

3 goals this week IF I play

1. Win my 8 ball match
2. Get a patch regardless on what it is for
3. Avoid having my name brought up in board meetings for 9 ball

Happy Monday, hope everyone had a good Easter with family and/or friends

I'm down!

I get another 9 on the snap patch from last week. First break it went in the bottom right. Another ball followed it and made the one in the side. I'm learning how to break :D

I still need that 8-on-the-break and Break n Run for this session, too. Not nearly as important as whipping up on my opponent, but it would be a nice little extra

We're still in first place, and playing one of the two teams that could catch us. (We beat the other one last week.)

How many weeks left? if they can catch you I would focus more on the W than the patch for sure.

I have a chance at TG this session with 2 weeks to play. The list hasn't updated and so I really have 40 points and the guy in first who is my buddy and is a 6 didn't play (they play at the same bar as us).

Finished up the session.. sort of. I only play the 8b side on the Tuesday team - they made playoffs for both 8 and 9. Missed out on Sunday, but was told we didn't do well in 9, so we're buying into our tricup/city tournament in 8 and plan on doing playoffs in 9 since we were only about 18 points in 1st. Fortunately, the Wendesday night team was already qualified for masters regionals.

On the bright side, spent half the weekend helping to get the bar redone and ready for the 4 tourney-used diamonds that went in on Saturday. The installer did a great job and I would have no reservations about having him set up again at any other time or place. The bar was closed Thursday and Friday night, but got opened back up on Saturday night. It's been very well received so far with a little remodel and new tables. Trying to move our Tuesday playoffs there, since we play the same team on both sides.

Now, back to a restful work week after lots of waking up early and drinking all weekend. Somebody's got to do it, right?

Three weeks left in our session, tho we only play two. We have a bye for the last week (odd number of teams this session, just luck of the draw that our bye lands on the last week). I'm not concerned with patches, if they happen, that's cool. If not, so long as we win, I'm giggly

I, too, have an outside shot at Top Gun, but I'm not worrying about that. I'm in fifth place, but in order for me to jump to the top I think I'd have to get shut outs the next two weeks, and that isn't gonna happen. I'll be happy if I just win this week, I'm likely gonna play one of the others teams two SL6's, if it falls the way i expect. They are both tough opponents, especially for me. Just winning would be a big deal to me, a shut out is difficult to imagine.

Good luck everyone!

lol....well, I don't need to worry about this one I guess. I officially played my 10th match last week to get the minimum shoots I needed. They just updated the site with the scores and with a lovely 4-6 record I just moved up to an 8.

I just found out our team is now tied for first place, with two weeks left. We were down in 2nd, last week, by 18 points. I'm currently ranked 3rd in the division and our team captain is ranked 1st (9W-1L). So I'm hoping he gets MVP!

We play the last place team Wednesday and play the team we are tied with next week! Going for the 6 point break!

Cool stuff and definitely :lovies: in regards to the 6 point break. Since we have no shot in 9 ball and I moved up with a losing record, time to maybe up the game just a hair :D

for the 1st time in a long time i did not want to go to league last night.

i wore this 59 year old body out this weekend lol.

got up sat morning and busted out a concrete side walk here at the house. then i went and played in a money tournament i posted about in here earlier.

got up sun morning and hauled off that busted up concrete. mowed the yard after that.

then it was time for league and i told my g/f lets stay home. she said she was going and i said ok..bye. :D i told her to run the team since i was not going and knrew the co captain was outa town.

i am laying on the couch watching tv and she calls saying she only has 4 there and needs me. she said all the other teams had all their players there even though it was easter.

i said all right. i fired my bike up and rode down there . when i got there i told her she was still running the team cause i did not want the hassle.

she threw me out the 2nd 9 ball match after our 6 who i was suprised showed up put the smack down on one of their 5' by 18-2. they threw another 5 against me.

he breaks 1st and makes 3 on the break. plays a safe .. i make contact but nothing falls. he runs out. 10-0 him. 2 nd rack he makes 3 on the break again and then pockets 1 more before missing. i am down 14-0 already. before i get my 1st point.

due to some decent shooting and some decent safes by me i manage to make it a respectable loss...losing 38-34. not bad after being down 14-0.

later she throws me 8 ball. lo and behold they throw their other 5 that i lost to last week due to some score keeping shenanigans in the singles qualifier . i mentioned that in an earlier post. we both hate losing to the other. i guess you could call it a rivalry...not exactly a heated one but not exactly a friendly one either.

he gets up 2-0 in 2 innings on me. i said fvck this and went in defense mode. i win the next 3 and he wins the 6th rack to make it hill -hill.

next rack i got 2 ball left and they are blocking the bottom right pocket. his last ball is a foot from the same pocket. the 8 is a sitting duck in the bottom left pocket. he hits his ball rail 1st caroming off one of my ball and winds up hanging in front of the pocket blocking both my balls.he walks away from the table grinning ear to ear.

i walk up and look over it knowing 1 lil mistake and i lose the match. after mulling all my options over for about a minute i caromed the cue ball off my ball furthest from the pocket pocketing his ball and leaving the cue ball hanging in the pocket froze against my other ball, aint no way in hell he can get past my 2 balls and make contact with the 8 let alone make it in any called pocket.

he walks up to the table saying aww shit. he looks over where the cue ball is ... looks over where the 8 is.... looks up table trying to figure out how to kick back down to the 8.

after about 2 minutes of just looking at every thing he says damn. starts looking some more for about 2 more minutes and then mutters ....damn bastard. i start chuckling. my g/f asks whats funny. i told her what he said. she started laughing and said you must really have him hooked. about a minute later he mutters aww shit again lol.

then he fires up table with out ever calling a pocket but it don't matter cause he missed the 8 by 2 feet. i make the easiest 3 ball run out i think i have ever had lol.

did i mention i went in defense mode. ? after he won the 1st 2 racks in 2 innings i changed the game completely. the entire match went 43 innings for 7 racks. i played 18 marked defensive shots. he played 7. oh yea ... i played a shit load of 2 way shots also. :D

after wards he shook my hand and said ...you got lucky.. i said yea ...i got lucky you made it easy for me to run out.

with him knowing that no matter what he tried i was gonna get bih he shoulda pushed my ball that was froze against the cue ball up against the 8. it would have made it a lot harder on me but he never thought of that. lucky me .

we wind up winning 9 ball 67-33. won 8 ball 11-2. maybe i oughta start letting her run the team.

Enjoyed my spring break a bit much, strayed away from the interweb. Actually... that'd probably qualify more as "just enough" and not "a bit much." Went out and had a great time at a disc golf tournament, partied a whole lot, got plenty of sleep. Great time all around.

In my Wednesday night league last week I finally had a full night of rest! Typically I'm up at 4:00AM lesson planning, usually after staying up past 10:00PM the night before working on other projects or watching the Tigers/Blue Jackets. The league is 8-ball, modified NAPA rules, in-house at a place near home. They believe in very wide rating breaks, so the matchups are not favorable to lower rated players, but they also build ratings very slowly (maximum 4 point rating jump for a particularly nice win, no movement for wins on the hill at all). This slow movement has kept me at a 44 despite what is now a 5-2 record. My rating hasn't moved an inch.

Well I bet it is going into tomorrow night. Played a 68. It was a 3-4 race. I lost the lag by about a quarter of an inch, and that was about the last time he had any sense of control. I won the first game handily, despite giving away a very early ball in hand (off my first turn, bad control of the cueball's speed, it just crept on into a pocket). Then won each of the next two games in 2 turns and 3 turns, finishing each of my turns with a careful safety. Swept it up 3-0, making several shots that could be considered pretty difficult. Started game 2 by stealing the easier set of balls on a thin cut cross-table combination shot near the short side. Cueball on the corner pocket, thinly cutting a ball a few inches away cross-table into a ball on the rail, which ran the rail home. Cueball speed was medium, and had I missed he would have had a near run-out on stripes which I'd just taken. Risky as hell but I was confident.

Simply put though, even with only one league, all week was confident great pool. Every day. It makes a world of a difference being well rested. The only day I shot poor pool all week was late night Saturday night, after playing 48 holes of a disc golf tournament. Otherwise? I just felt on point. I think Wednesday was an emergence to a new peak level of play... and we all know what new peak levels are: the next level of consistent play available and within reach!

Beat another 7 tonight 16-4 in 13 innings. Im 9 for 9 for the session

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk

Solid session! I am having a down session, but that is what I get for not really playing anymore. I am 7-2 in 8 ball and 4-6 cough cough in 9 ball (to which they moved me up after last week to an 8). Fkers lol.

I sure hope we win points so we can skip tri-cup and go straight to masters. Tri-cup can "potentially" be a long weekend, so it would be nice just to skip that step. We have a decent 8 ball team, but I think we would have to play realllly well to win the trip. Who knows though, anything can happen.

I know your LO groups players with colors, but how do the tournaments differ?

We have 16 week league sessions (8 teams) and 8 week short sessions (4 teams).
If you are the "high points" winner, you skip playoffs and earn a spot at the City Cup.
The remaining teams play in the playoffs for an additional spot at the City Cup.
Two teams from each division go to city cup. I think there are 8 divisions over here near New Orleans.
Teams compete at the "City Cup" and the winners become "LTC Qualified" for the local team championships in Biloxi, MS.
At the LTC, you play for a spot to go to Vegas.

Is that how it works for everyone?

I haven't played league in a few years before this year, but I believe ours is similar. If you win points you go straight to the big tournament i.e. Masters. Usually 1-2 teams go there depending on how many entries there are. For teams that don't win points if you are in the top like 3-4 you play in tri cup for usually multiple spots in Masters. Also, if you win the trip to Vegas I think your team needs to maintain an above 50% win/loss average if you have session(s) that you are playing before the trip happens. I am not sure how much the LOs enforce that but I do think it is a rule to make sure teams don't win the trip, and then try to dump before they actually leave for it.
