If you do a seach on this Forum for shaft cleaning you'll get many suggestions. I use a Mr. Magic Eraser. Good luck in your quest.

Q Wiz should do the trick. From there I would recommend changing from blue to tan Masters chalk. I use it on all my cues and it doesn't discolor the shaft and IMO works better than the blue.

Predator recommends dampening a paper towel lightly with some rubbing alcohol and using that to wipe off chalk after every session. Any moisture is bad for cues, so the rubbing alcohol is best because it evaporates rapidly and isn't too harsh for either the bare wood or finished areas. It really works better than anything else I have tried or heard about in the past 25 years. Just remember not to saturate the leather tip!

i did clear pain spraying on the shaft and easy clean out chalk. Make sure you know what kind of spraying you are using. Choose the clear plain one

any kind of clear coat where you stroke the cue will make the shaft sticky.

this question should be asked in the cue makers section,

I will give my 2 cents worth.

first of if you do not want chalk in the grain of your shaft....
Then to help tp prevent this from happening.

Magic eraser works good denatured alcohol, warm soapy water .
at the end of getting the shaft clean always wipe the shaft down with denatured alcohol to help evaporate any moisture soaked up in the cleaning process.

this helps seal the shaft so chalk cannot get into the wood grain.

shellac is lac bug shit from india and it works great as a wood preservitive,
but acids on your hands will desolve shellac.

ok mix 4 table spoons of shellac/4 table spoons of denatured alcohol
apply 4 to 5 coats do not worry about drying time it dries in seconds,

then wax with carnuaba car wax.

if you play alot i suggest doing this as often as you can.

by sealing the shaft you are keeping the wood from drying out and keeping the chalk out of the grain . The wax gives to a nice smooth non sticky surface and it helps to protect the shaft from dirt and grim.

if you do this often then blue chalk cannot get into the grain so you really dont have to clean the shaft you are just resealing it.

i agree 100 %. this is the easiest, fastest, and cheapest way to care for your shaft. Sometimes i will do it in the middle of play at the pool hall. by the time i go to the bathroom and wash my hands and return to the table the alcohol is evaporated and my shaft is clean and silky smooth.

Ditto on the Q-Wiz. The Q-wiz is washable. Wash it...let it dry. It's new again.

I clean my shaft with Dove..

No seriously....alcohol and then beeswax or carnauba to seal the pores

I never leave home without these in my case...
