Th placement of the cb will vary, according to the way the balls spread upon breaking.
The closer to the side rail you go, the greater the side force upon the rack...so the likelihood of the bottom corner ball leaking out for your opponent increases.
As you approach center of table with cb, the side force imposed on rack decreases and that pop out ball becomes less likely...though you get less spread to you side, as well.
