How do you feel about Craftmaster tables?

just put some new felt on and I'll have a new table.
Hmm...He's sending me a couple pics from when they tore it down I believe. Said he's had a bunch of people call.

A new felt and good to go. Like in Planes, Trains and Automobiles...buff it right out.
As far as people calling. For that price it should have been gone an hour after it was listed.

So not worth the risk? I mean "his company" paid $500 to box it up, only to re-sell for $300.

Unless the guy is an idiot and doesn't know the value of it, and everyone else is like me, scared to look at it thinking something is wrong lol

Haven't heard anything back from the guy selling the Craftmaster for $400. Maybe he didn't like the idea that I requested he run like 4 tests to verify the integrity of the table haha

Only my opinion. Do whatever you are comfortable with. Used is used. Boxed is boxed. As is. No returns. I hate to say it on this forum but I do not gamble. I like to buy a sure thing. I'd want to see it. Yes you will save money because it's crated. Does the seller have any kind of Positive or Negative history? Can you research him?
No risk no reward is right (sometimes). You're not talking about a lot of money. If the table is a bomb you're taking a small loss. If it works out you got great deal. Anyway try to do it right the first time. You'll have years of fun with a table.

i have a craftmaster table. tour edition cloth and triple shimmed pockets. rails are LIVE!! Plays great in my opinion. very sturdy table.

He had someone coming to look at the Craftmaster tonight, trying to find out how that went. Not sure if I want to bother with the Brunswick.

Is that a GT in your avatar? I have an '04 GT.

I learned how to shoot on a Sears table as a kid and it worked fine. Well that is until i tired to recover it by myself :lol:

Craftsmasters?? Probably better than them sh**ty Diamond tables that balls slide on. Damn Diamonds!!! Cost me my first pro match :angry:

Also heard this is the brand of table the ABP is endorsing to promoters to guarantee the money will be in the kitty and not wasted on professional quality tables :p Sorry I couldnt resist

Being as close as you are you probably should have already been over there and bou ght it. Well on to the next one i guess. My advice, if you find a table you like go look at it with money in hand or you will keep missing out.

buying a table

You should probably forget about setting it up yourself because if you are going to do it right you need tools you probably dont have like a machinist level. A well setup ceaftmaster or any other table with at least 1 inch thick slate will play better then a poorly setup brunswick. As long as the slate is good and it has a solid frame and good poplar sub rails it can be made to play well. AS far as asking about a table brand you will get more correct information in the talk to a mechanic section. If you get a valley bar box they are difficult for an amateur to setup and play way to easy unless modified they are designed to play easy as more balls down mean motr quarters in the table but can be made to play well with a fair amount of added expense. They are also 1 piece slate.

Well I guess they re-scheduled with the guy that was supposed to go look at it. Debating if I should go check it out.

Sorry if I'm jacking here. Lifetime warranty on a Brunswick GoldCrown.
I called an authorized Brunswick dealer. (The place I bought the table from is out of business). They want to send a repair person to Look and Evaluate the dead rails. At that point they will contact Brunswick. Brunswick will exchange the rails after they get them. Anyway, it went on and on. I was to pay a service charge to evaluate and pay labor for the rails to be replaced. And a new cloth is most likely needed. It is easier and less aggravating to pay out of pocket for everything which is what I am in the process of doing. One service company said Brunswick does everything it can to make the warranty unaccommodating. Also, the repair people are not the greatest. They installed the table originally.

A teammate of mine from leagues last year had huge problems with them too. All he needed was one rail replaced and like you said they had to have someone come look at it, then that person denied it so he had to call again and they sent someone else who finally said it was bad and said they would replace it, so then he had to wait 3 weeks to finally get the rail in and it was the wrong one! So then he had to call them again and they sent someone to look at it again and it took that guy a week to come look at the rail that wasnt even on the table. So he said they would send it back and it took another 3 weeks to get the right rail and what happens next? IT WAS THE WRONG COLOR! he had green felt and they sent blue. So another 3 weeks later they FINALLY sent him the right one along with a bill for every service they did after the very first visit, it included every time someone came to inspect the rail, shipping and handling back and forth for the rail, and to change the color. He was still fighting them on it when season was over and i havent asked him about it since.

Holy crap

To me it sounds like the dealers that the tables were bought from gave these customers the runaround , not Brunswick. Sadly not everyone who buys a pool table franchise can provide acceptable customer service.

Brunswick was not interested in customer satisfaction. The authorized dealer was the pits. And I could not buy rails out of pocket from Brunswick. I'm flaming their warranty.

Well I went and checked out the Craftmaster today. 2 problems, dogs chewed a couple of the legs and one of the side rails is rock hard. The rest seem to be ok.

It otherwise looks to be a solid table and nice cabinet construction.

I assume better deals will come though.

For $400, is this something I should still consider?

Here are a few pics I took.

since you are going to need to redo the cloth after move you can get a set of diamond black cushions for less than $100 and redo the rails at the same time.

Do you have a reputable purchase link so I can check that out?

Less than $100 isn't bad but I'm starting to have second thoughts about the chewed up legs.

I didn't think the cloth had to be re-done on the rails. Just stretched back over the slate.

Craftmaster uses k66 cushions. So the diamond blacks won't work without more unneeded work.

If you feel comfortable dismantling and moving the table to save a little money. Then get a qoute for a setup, recover and recushion to see if it fits into your overall budget. If it does than pick it up. If it doesn't than move on. Keep in mind that new cloth and cushions will make the table more or less new again. Assuming they know what there doing.

Being that my budget is $700, with the table costing $400 and I still need to hire someone to set it up, that might be pushing it for a table with chunks missing from the legs because of dogs. This is the third table I've seen that has been damaged by animals. I don't understand some people.

The cloth appears to be in good condition and can probably be re-used.

Edit - Pertaining to the setup, I was quoted $225 for installation only. Need to make a couple other calls tomorrow.

I see cushions are fairly inexpensive on ebay, although I doubt I'd want to buy half of the stuff on there.
