How do you handle this?

This just happened to me the other night, broke rack and hung the 8in corner, made a few balls at other end and while I was in pre shot stroking the 8dropped (other end of table) the other captain says I lost while the two of us playin agreed to spot it and forfeit my inning! Never heard of this before and I'm too damn lazy to search it! Lol

8 Ball is placed back in its original spot at the edge of the pocket and you continue shooting.

There is no way on earth I would accept s loss in this scenario. Be careful, alot of captains don't know the rules and will be very quick to try and pin you with a loss. There is a rule in most leagues about the amount of time that must pass before a ball is considered dead, i.e. in its final resting position. It's only like ten seconds or so. I think for posterity's sake, the ball should be placed s close to its original place in the pocket as can be remembered, i.e. center left right of the pocket. A spot is not in orders as that drastically changed the dynamic if the entire rack. I would accept a re rack before a spot or a loss, however I would insist it go back in on the edge of the pocket and I continue to shoot.
