If the shaft has a brass insert, I twist the shaft. If wood threads, I twist the butt.

I twist the shaft half way on while my case holds the butt then pull it out and twist the shaft most of the way then do the last assurance twist with the shaft and butt simultaneously.

Ah that's an interesting technique I hadn't thought of.

Thanks for sharing!

Same way you have sex, put the pin in the hole and work it till she's tightens up and everything come together.

I typically let her twist the shaft while I hold the butt. ;)

But nahhh, I hold the butt, bumper against the ground usually, and twist the shaft onto it.

With hopefully expectations while putting together, usual lubed with tears as I unscrew....

Wtf..????????????????

how do you put your stick together?
Twist the shaft while holding the butt.
Twist the butt while holding the shaft.
Twist both the butt and shaft simultaneously in opposite directions.

It appears we have completely run out of remotely sensible topics to discuss! ..Whats next..If you dump your pool table in the ocean, will it sink or float?.. Do we need a poll?

I think why and how people do things is an interesting topic.....
...many tomes have been written on this subject.

I just happened to notice, after a humungous loss, that I tend to hold the shaft stationary
with my bridge hand while I turn the butt to unscrew....
..'course, everybody in the room was laughing at me.....:rotflmao1:
...'cause I was playing with a house cue....:embarrassed2:

Quickly, I put them together quickly. Thats probably why I dont use joint protectors, I also do not really see a need for them.

Put the boy part in the female part, twist

I just leave them together at home, no need at all to do that multiple times a day

I break with the fat butt part with the pin sticking out of it, then play with that skinny one.
Never thought of trying to put the two together.

Seriously? Depends on my mood and where and how I'm sitting or standing.

Since the shaft has a smaller diameter than the butt, you can get more revolutions for the same effort if you concentrate on the shaft. Of course, if you concentrate on your shaft too much, you're finished very quickly.

That's why I think about baseball when I tighten mine up.

Radial shaft on my Josey. Gives me a fear of cross thread. So, I hold the butt and very carefully seat the shaft before twisting.
