I was playing a match last night and for some reason I my hands were sweating more than normal. The problem was that I play with a wrapless cue (have been for over 10 years), and my cue/grip hand really started to stick. I was missing left and right and became extremely frustrated. Later that night when I calmed down a bit, a friend offered me his linen wrapped cue and immediately I started to shoot better.
Has this ever affected anyone else? It could have been that I was having a bad case of the nerves during the match, but I couldn't help and think it had something to do with the cue and my sticky hands.
Thoughts?
That's personal and part of the evolution of your game. Tackiness or lack of are CRITICAL with your back hand. I sold my Kershenbrock yrs ago just because my hand slipped on a ''real'' simple draw shot when I was in the final 8 winners side of a pro event, next cue was a leather wrap Zambodi, leather never got to the takiness I liked till it was too late, then Varner convinced me to go to linen, because it works more consistently when humidity and sweat come into play. Crowds, humidity and me sweating Allot caused too much slippage, ball didn't come back ''at all''. Never forget seeing Boston Shorty at Johnson City, talc both hands, wiped his entire cue with it, clapped his hands to remove excess and game on, me, I couldn't even imagine that, I personally need a tacky grip.
