How good are McDermott cue cases?

Anybody ever own, or have any experience with, a McDermott cue case?

McDermott makes a 2X4 case which sells for around $90 that "looks" sturdy, but there really isn't any useful info on anywebsite about the inside of the case. Anybody here ever own, or even see one of these in person, and know if they're good cases?

McDermott branded cases can run from ultra-cheap crap all the way up to excellent top-notch. I think in general they are average or better, but that's just an impression, I have only handled a few and that have sold many styles and versions.

They are branded cases, they put their name on them, they don't make them.

If you want to know about a specific one it would be best to link to it or show a picture so we know what case you are talking about.

I don't know their current cases so I'm no help there, I just wanted to suggest you link to it so there is no error in what case you get feedback on.

I have an OLD McDermott hard case that I've had for over 26 years and it has been excellent, kept my cue straight for the last 26 years.

THAT being said...... I also have a current model case from McDermott, looks just like the one pictured above in the pic except mine is a 3X5.

I bought the case brand new last November. I always carry the case with the shoulder strap OR the top handle, NEVER the side handle. I noticed about 2 weeks ago that the side handle had been torn away from the case, the leather (or "material) had actually ripped and torn. I was pretty disappointed that it only lasted me barely 6 months so I called McDermott about it and they told me their cases didn't have an actual "warranty" on them but they would replace it anyways, I didn't even remember where I bought it from and didn't have a receipt, but Jayme at McDermott said they would replace it anyways and even pay the return shipping back to me. I was sent a brand new case in less that a week, HOWEVER, when I got the case they had sent me a 4X6 and not my original 3X5, so I called Jayme back and have since then sent the 4X6 case back and am now waiting on my new 3X5 to arrive.

My newer 3X5 case is a very nice case and I really like it, I like it so much that I told Jayme at McDermott that if they did NOT replace it under warranty, I would simply buy another one that I liked it THAT much. I feel the side handle tearing off was just a fluke accident, only time will tell when I get my new one back.

All that being said, I really like the newer McDermott cases, especially for the money, and ESPECIALLY for the customer service. I'm using my Porper case as a back-up, but I prefer my McDermott case over my Porper.

Just my .02, hope it helps.

Sometimes the sellers on ebay will give a pic or a diagram of what the inside looks like and how the sticks fit in it, you just have to look at all the different pics from different sellers to find out which seller puts the diagram of the inside of the case.

McDermott customer service is exemplary! Jayme was tons of help when I need some info from the McDermott themselves. I didn't buy from the manufacturer, she didn't grill me about proof of purchase. I asked a question and she gave an answer. If you want details about their merchandise just email them details and pictures.

A friend of mine has their $50 1x1 from their more current shooters collection. And it's pretty nice for the money. I can say that the interior is a nice quality indeed. The one he has just has the seperated sections not the individual tubes but the padding and material seem good quality. The exterior is decent, I've seen better but also a lot worse, especially for the money.
