How hard to relaminate GC1 rails

I am thinking of buying a GC1 from my local poolhall. They are in decient shape but the formica on the rails is worn and in a few small places cracked near the furring (spelling?) strip for the cloth on the top of the rail. Is it very difficult to replace it? This will be the deciding factor on me buying the table. I don't need it but it would be nice to have. The nameplate is missing as well as 1 or 2 sight markers. Those are not an issue as I can make and inlay new ones.

I t not bad. Use a heat gun and strip them, Get a trim router to cut perfect. Use some contact cement to glue down. You may want to keep the old for a pattern and use a plunge router for the sights. Ron
 
If it is applied like cabinet facings it is no problem. I just wanted to make sure there is not some crazy stuff happening under the laminate, constuction wise. I can cut the sites and make an inlayed name plate on the cnc so no problems there. It is $1000 asking price for the table. I would just want the rails done and buff up the corner trim plates as well as some nice felt. I will hire that part out as I cant seem to do the rail felt good enough to be happy with the job. I will leave that to you guys.

Gold crown 1 has issues...and takes more time to set it up than a 3 or 4, if I was you I would find a used 4 to work with...

The room owner removed the pins in the slate long ago. It does not matter either way now. Owner backed out of selling them. He will remove the billiards and snooker tables instead.

Note to billiards players. Order more than water or loose your table.
