How Important are lessons?

A GOOD TEACHER WONT MILK YOU TILL DOOMS DAY..I HAD SOME LESSONS FROM LITTLE AL ROMERO BACK IN THE 8Os AT HARD TIMES.AL WAS PATIENT AND I KNEW HIM FROM WHEN I WAS A KID IN THE EARLY 60s AND TRUSTED HIM..THATS IMPORTANT...AFTER A FEW LESSONS HE SAID YOU DONT NEED TO DO ANYTHING BUT PLAY MORE AND TAKE LESS PRACTICE STROKES.DONT PLAY MUCH ANYMORE BUT HE MADE ME A ASS KICKER...

I really like this guy’s videos normally. I think he was nervous in this one because it was his first time talking to a girl.

Perosonally I found that taking some lessons help a ton. That said, you have to put into practice what they have taught and not revert back to what seems comfortable. I've taken some lessons from pros and instructors and it actually helped a lot, that is, if I was willing to change those things that needed changing.

Most folks want a silver bullet that will make them play like a pro, but in truth it takes a lot of time, practice, and patience to become a really consistent player, and I'm not even talking about "good" just consistent. Lessons help, but you still have to change those things that need changing, and put in the table time.

JB is one of the great players of our game. The video is goofy and very non informative. I believe the intent is to be humorous but it doesn't even do that well. That said, the question of whether lessons are important is really not fair in the context of this video. Anyone who is serious about being even modestly fair about playing this game should take a lesson (maybe even multiple lessons!).

The part I don't understand is how the instructor figures out the student's problems by running out a rack.

He makes videos. I assume he wanted some of it to showcase her playing too. And I imagine the lesson itself really included more than what made the final edit of the video.
