How important is a Break cue - speeds recorded...

I had my break Rak out last night and a guy in the pool room came up and hit on it a few times...he probably hit it a half dozen times or more, recording 22's mph very consistently. That's a real good break. He's a really good player. (AA) I would say.
He then hit a dozen or 2 wih my Carmeli break cue (ebony/G10...18.5 oz) and he was posting 24-25 consistently!!!!!!!!!

Hitting over 27mph after a few minutes. I couldn't believe it, so I had him hit wih his break cue again, ...back to 22's .....!!!!!!!!!!

We were using a radar, so were talking accurate numbers here. I can't believe it. I would never have guessed that the cue could make THAT MUCH DIFFERENCE. now, let me say, it looked like a regular playing cue and probably had a regular tip on it, I would have to assume that the tip was causing much of the lost speed.

More so, I'm jealous, cause I can't seem to break past 22mph wih accuracy, and he's lobbing em in there clean, at 24-25...and 27 dirty !!!

The other friend I'm playing with is putting em in clean at 24-25 also, he too, posting 27 dirty...let me say...that's a bad-ass break !!!!!! Wish it was mine!!!

I will not mention any names, don't wanna kill their action, lol

Most likely the tip.

What were the weight differences between cues? I've recorded my break only on a few occasions and get faster speeds with more consistency with 16 and 17oz cues. Higher acceleration I guess. Seem to hit the CB closer to where I intend too.

There's a guy around here that's about 5'8 and skin and bones but breaks over 30mph. The sound is deafening and somehow he gets the CB to jump 2ft in the air and land plum mid table. If only I had a break like that!

Another point of view, ask Shane Van Boening (called about 10,000,000 times
"the best 10 ball breaker in the world") how important a break cue is.
He does all those monster breaks with his playing cue.
MPH is a fun stat but ultimately that's all it is.

The 3 most overrated items for a full time pool player.
Break cue
Phenolic tip
Bankroll (since no full time player ever has this)
