Question for those of you who are in the know about the local pool scene in Houston, at this time.

Have the pool halls been allowed to reopen yet?

If not, then what about restaurants that have a decent pool room attached to them?

What are the nicest pool rooms in Houston?

Thanks.

everything is open

big tyme
legends
bogies are the top pool rooms

us bida is the top carom room, plenty of carom rooms in htown as well
all open

Hi, can you recommend any other nice pool rooms? All of the ones that you mentioned are so far from Downtown Houston. Is Slick Willies a players room, or are there any other decent players rooms that are not so far away from Downtown? Would like to visit, but want to stay near a room that is closer to Downtown. Thanks.

What side of town do you live on?

I've been hearing about Gabby practicing at the SlickWillies on Fountainview, which inside 610. The Montrose location didn't really get any regular decent players when I was around...mostly a hipster hangout.

I live in New Orleans, but the pool halls here are still shut down, so would like to visit Houston, for maybe a week, and would like to stay at a motel that is near a pool room, but also not too far away from downtown Houston. Never been to Houston, so would like to experience the downtown as much as possible while I am there. I ride public transit, so would be nice to find a motel that is within walking distance to a nice pool room. I walk a lot, so do not mind walking. Want to be as close to downtown as possible though, but also near a nice pool room. Thanks.

Have not decided yet, but want to be as close to a nice pool hall as possible, because I ride public transit, and would love to find a pool room within walking distance to a motel. Would also like to be as close to downtown as possible. I am guessing a motel near Slick Willies would be my best option. Do you happen to know if that is in a bad part of town? Thanks.

There's a ton of stuff to see in Houston, but you'll need to use your car. Houston is just too spread out...you be waiting half days to make round trips to anywhere by Metro bus.

I do not drive, so that is not an option. My only 2 options are Public Transit, or walking. I would like to find some good 9 foot tables to shoot on, plus be able to experience the Downtown area, and hopefully without anything bad happening to me. Not sure how Dangerous Houston is. Thanks.

Hire TCC to be your chauffeur? I hear he's cheap to hire...pay his entry at some 5-10$ tournaments (he knows where they're at), and chip in for gas.

😝

But more seriously, I suggest that you play the thursday night 9 or 10 ball tournament at BigTymes when you're there. It's a very strong tournament for very cheap. I've played many champions there, even world champs. If you don't play a champ, you'll almost definitely play a champ beater...which is also awesome.

The referenced "Slick Willies Montrose" is the closest. It's at 1200 Westheimer. Note that a mile further toward Downtown, the street name changes to Elgin St. I have not been there in years, but it was nice when it first opened many years ago.

The closest hotel is 1.2 miles away and is called "La Masion in Midtown". Google it as I know nothing about it. Supposed to be 3 out of 5 stars. It is in Midtown. To go Downtown, the closest thing i probably the Downtown Hyatt, about 10-11 miles by car. Oh, and you don't want to be walking very far around Midtown/Montrose if you can avoid it.

You have me sold on relocating to Houston now. I want to be around some great players, and compete with good competition. Those tournaments sound awesome. Kind of sucks that Big Tyme Billiards is so far away from the city though. Thanks.

Thanks for the info. So, Montrose is not a safe area.

I just realized that there are 2 Slick Willies locations, that appear to be on the same road. Is the 2nd one, further down the road, away from Downtown, nice? I found a motel that is only about a half mile walk from there. Days Inn by Wyndham Houston-Galleria TX, 3333 Fountain View Dr, Houston, TX 77057. I hope that is not in too bad of an area.
