i am not sure if this should go here or in the for sale section. i put it here because i am not selling in this thread. so about three weeks ago i put a few items up for sale and and had no problems with one item that sold. i received multiple pm's on some of the other items and on a first come basis took the first offer and let everyone else slide. it's been three weeks with a lot of contact but no payment and now no contact for almost a week. the person in question has not logged on since last saturday. how long do i wait be fore i relist the items for sale or try to contact some of the people who were interested before i made the deal with the person who hasn't paid. i am not mentioning a user name because i don't want to bash anyone i would just like to get the items sold. i don't buy or sell very often - here or on ebay - so i am not sure of what the ettiquette is. i also don't want to mention the specific items or names of people because i am quite certain that murphy's law states the second i do that the payment will be in my mail box and i will look like a bigger ahole than i normally do (yes for all of you who take the time to red rep me and pm me, i already know:D )

What I would do

It's been 3 weeks, and no payment, so I would re-list it. This might get the original first offer to pay ASAP, or at least get it sold, so you have the money in your hand.
I believe 3 weeks gave the first buyer plenty of time to pay, and therefore you should sell it to the next person. Giving the person time is appropriate, but 3 WEEKS? Let someone else pay for the item and enjoy it.

Do not feel guilty, you have given the person plenty of time. Just send them a PM to let them know you have re-listed the item again, and that they have 24hrs to pay for it, otherwise it goes to the first responder to your re-listed item back on the FOR SALE SECTION.

Good luck with your sale, again.

Can't wait forever, especially if you have a need for that money. I would send one more email or whatever means of communication you have and just tell him you had to relist and if he wants the item he will pay for it under the new listing. I think you did a great thing in waiting this long and at your own expense. Hopefully you will be able to get the same price for the item.

3 weeks is forever when you are waiting for a payment. I would give 3-5 days from when I gave him payment instructions, unless he requests specific other arrangements. Things come up, but it is not difficult to communicate. If he didn't pay or make other arrangements within the window, sell it to someone else.

I don't believe this is unreasonable. In my opinion, you have far exceeded fair and nice in this instance. Sell it again and never think about it.
