How many basement players out there?

I am just like the op except when i was younger the pool room was a place to get out of the cold or meet up with friends. I was just a banger. Then after 35 years of playing maybe once every 2 years i got sick and wasn't able to leave the house much. So i bought a table, and now have gotten pretty good.
Once in awhile a friend stops over and if in the mood we play. I have held my own against some player who are what i consider pretty good. My concentration, back and eyes all need to be working to play my best. I hit balls everyday but some days i feel i have it and when i don't i just stop an put the cue away until the next day. I have nothing to prove and i am glad for that. For me its fun and a distraction from life in general. BTW i am now healthy but still have no desire to play outside of my home. Give me a cue or a fishing rod and i'm happy.

I have a nice Kim Steel table in the basement with a great Diamond light. I have neighbors come over to play all the time. It is nice being the best in your block. I still venture out from time to time, but with three kids, it is a challenge.

home

I play pretty much only at home. I have a 9 footer with shimmed pockets that is a real test. I do miss some of the pool room characters ,but the crappy pool hall in Lawton ,no thanks. I can play when I want in a smoke free room, listen to music I like and don't have to worry about getting shot at closing time.I am up at 5 every day and play a little straight pool and drink coffee before work . The bad thing is ,not too many friends come out to the sticks to play on a tough table, too bad on their ego when there is no gimmies.

I hate every single one of you that has a table at home. Did I mention I'm your new roommate?

I actually enjoy playing with friends, and I love the feeling of knowing if I miss, I best have a comfy chair to sit in. Excellence on a table is an amazing thing to watch and nothing puts me in a better frame of mind to be exacting with my game than an opponent who makes sure I know one little mistake means I will be paying for it in spades.

Basement players

Do you think the best player in the world never leaves is basement? It wouldn't surprise me at all if it were the case. I have 2 tables in my basement, a 9 foot GC1 and ZD5 Valley bar box.
