How many cues have you smashed? Discussion inside!

Like the title says... Once I bit my cue. It was a bad day for me. I was up all night, then worked 9 hours, then decided to go and play some pool. A real bright idea... A guy that normally cannot touch me, let alone beat me, was up 10 - 0. I just could not run 2 balls. Long story short... It did not taste good. I did not break any teeth, but did leave a bite mark (softer wood + shellac finish vs. automotive clear coat). Then I reflected on what I just did (bite marks and my sore jaw helped), and calmed down. I finished out the set and went home. Then I had to sand down the cue and refinish because I did not want a constant reminder of the fact that I am a raging lunatic. I do not bite them anymore, because I started using a lot of ebony in my cues, and dentists are somewhat expensive. :D

There has got to be a way to calm down and to avoid pool rage, except long hours of practice and getting to be good again. I just do not have time for that. Sometimes I get so angry and I just hate myself so much, that I could off myself at that particular moment.

Conversation between dad and 3 year old:

Dad: TIMMY!!! GET THAT TOY OUT OF YOUR MOUTH! GET IT OUT OF YOUR MOUTH NOW!!! What is the only thing we're supposed to put in our mouths?

Timmy: (head down) Only food and tooth brushes, Dad.

Dad: That's right, son. Only food and tooth brushes. :)

Exactly. That is what I tell my kids. But on that particular day for me, I guess, it was food, tothbrushes and a pool cue it took me a year to build.:D

:ok:

Dude, I can't believe the good humor you just displayed. The ability to laugh at yourself is something too many people don't have.

Rep for you. :)

How many? What brand? How much were they? Did you actually own them at the time you put a cue out of it's misery? Did the cue have it coming?

I'll go first;

I broke, not one, but two Earl Strickland graphite shaft cues, with rubber wraps, only a few weeks apart. I spent about $65 per cue. I purchased the second, identical cue, because I was afraid that people would know that I broke my cue, or just ask questions about it. I then promptly smashed the second cue after trying to put a new tip on it, without any success. In retrospect, that cue(s) had it coming. Big time.

I have never mistreated a cue in my life, I have said a few choice words in my younger days, but that soon faded.

If you miss a ball playing pool let that become an awakening to paying attention to the game and let it become a strength, and you will not be so inclined to miss another one!
