How many days would you allow a seller to give you the run around, with not shipping, before filing a paypal complaint?

How many days would you allow a seller to give you the run around (telling you they are going to ship, and then giving excuses for not shipping), before filing a paypal complaint?

And, then what if the seller started ghosting you for going on 2 days, would you be worried?

I understand that people have lives, and are very busy, but how long does it take to stay in communication with a buyer that you owe a pool cue to?

Thanks for any thoughts.

I think PayPal has a time limit on complaints. You should start there.

Depends on the seller and their selling history / feedback. If it's a reputable seller that I have not done business with before, seems like 4 or 5 days to ship is reasonable to wait before reaching out for an update.

If it's a new seller that I don't know, I'd be getting nervous after 2 or 3 days. No communication back would make me double nervous.

Also, the price of the cue would make a difference too. To me, the more expensive the cue, the faster it goes out and the better the communication should be.

"Possibly" a personal emergency occurred.
Ive seen this more than once-
the seller or close family member ended up in emergency room from serious health issue.
Does your seller have established selling history with solid positive feedback????
hopefully thats the case,
May I ask who you bought your cue from,
I or maybe some else here on AZ can possibly stand up for the seller

Yeah, that was actually my 1st thought. That something happened to him. The person is not into pool cues, but said he played league for maybe a few seasons, but no longer played pool, or had no time to play anymore. Family man, with a wife, and kids, and a nice big house. Very busy, from the sound of it. Also has over 1100 Facebook friends. Seems super nice too. Said he dealt in a lot of sports cards, in other facebook groups.

He was just a guy who wrote me on facebook, and told me that he had a nice Meucci that he would sell me for cheap.

He finally wrote me back this evening, and told me that he just got really busy with a project at work for a few days, and had no time.

I just hate feeling left in the dark. I do not mind waiting, but like to be in communication with the seller, or know for sure when the item will be shipped.

I been ripped off many times in the past, over the years. So, I just do not trust anyone. Lol, I know, I freaked out way too soon. I need to learn patience.

Once you send the money, if the expectation is quick shipment, 48 hours. If I haven't heard from you in that timeframe, and I paid g/s I would start the reversal practice. Anyone that puts an ad up, knows what is expected. If you go radio silent, you lose the risk of losing the sale. I conduct business one way and expect the same. I have noticed newer buyers, younger buyers, have no concept of what doing business should be. It is bad enough I have to wait for the post office, but you have a computer, a cell phone, so you can spend 30 seconds on the text. Once you ship it, I expect a tracking number, before I receive the package. :)

If you don't fund your payment with a credit card, you are at the mercy of PayPal thst backs sellers over buyers.

You initiate a chargeback with your credit card company....the money is pulled from PayPal and then the seller gets a negative balance. The credit card company decides the case, which is very favorable to you, the buyer because you are their customer.

its what you agreed upon before you send payment. and tell him if coming late he must inform you immediately. if not then stop payment and cancel the sale as he doesn't keep his word and then all things are suspect with him.

if selling something it should be ready to be sent out or get packaged and sent out.

Yep… a simple note. What makes anyone’s money or time more important yours.

I freak fast also. But we shouldn’t have to. Absolutely stay on guard all the time.

I had to deal with this twice so far... once for a MTG card that the guy was almost a month late shipping, while the other was with a Canadian light-saber maker who ended up failing to deliver a bunch of orders to past customers. I did get finally my order from the latter after 1 month, but only after I filed a ticket with Paypal.

Do not wait too long... I'd draw the line at 2 weeks past the original ETA.

never let it go a month as then most credit cards no longer will refund. and if something cant be delivered to you long before then don't pay any money in advance. thats stupid.

5 days including a weekend unless the seller forewarned they’d be unavailable for x days before shipping to the buyer.
If they don’t ship within that timeframe, you’re skating on thin ice & might fall thru into the icy water below awaiting you.

And if you are getting ghosted, you are already under the ice and it’s time for emergency rescue to step in and pull your
freezing ass out of the frigid water you now find yourself in. File a complaint today…….right now…..don’t procrastinate.

I usually try to have tracking information to the folks I sell to, in 24 hours or less. I usually never sell something unless I am going to be home to ship it the following day, or business day, if it happens to be a weekend sale. Granted things sometimes happen. I always try to treat the folks I sell anything to, the way I would hope to be treated as a buyer. Communicating with the buyer goes a long way towards a positive customer experience in my opinion.
Maybe I was raised wrong.
🤷😉
