i do about 12 coats
of course a lot of that is sanded back off, leaving finish at approx 5 to 10 1000ths thick (in diameter)
there's as many opinions about finishes as there are finish materials
it has to be sanded and buffed out, just like a car finish
it's not perfectly smooth after spraying it
i start with 220 sandpaper and work all the way to 2000 wet sanding
then various grades of rubbing compounds
make sense now????????????
