I was playing a set many years ago, $100 race to 9...I broke and made
7 balls! I was hooked behind the 9. Had to kick for the 7 and left a REAL lucky leave...I won the game, and set a few racks later.
I made 7 on the snap. The one ball missed the side and rolled to the bottom rail on the two diamond and the 9 stayed on its end of the table. The cue ball was a dead plant in the middle of the table. I tried the long bank and missed. I was depressed.
8 ball on Barbox:
I have made 7 balls on the break. I ran out for an ERO (BnR) score of 10-4. The organizer had to talk to me when he saw the stats to confirm it wasn't in error.
Favourite big break:
I was playing Greg Kennedy (house pro at the time at Le Skratch Ottawa). I was giving him 1 on 7 and was up 6-1. On the hill snap I hung the 9 over the pocket and the 5 rolled nearly on top of it. I had the 8 hang over the side and was dead on the 4 in the corner. All I needed was to stop the cue ball and the combination was dead in. Needless to say, Greg gave up the game and left for the night.
Want to add balls to the break or at least improve your regularity? Watch the DVD by Joe Tucker: Racking Secrets. Made a world of difference to me.
I've probably made like 5 on an 8 ball break and 4 on a nine ball break rarely, much more frequently I have break after break where I can't pocket a ball no matter what I change and how hard I hit them.
