How many times have you seen someone run out a set?

Keith McCready ran 20 racks of 9-ball against "Mexican Little Al" in Long Beach, California in early '80s era on the 9-foot table.

In the begnning, they went back and forth, with nobody coming out ahead. When they got back to even, both players decided to raise the bet to 1.5 sandbags per set, 7-ahead. Keith must have liked the bet because he caught a second wind, running two sets of 7, then flipped a coin for the third set, and ran six more. After Keith won three 7-ahead sets, Little Al unscrewed his stick. :p

Never, and I doubt I ever will see it happen in person...

Most people just lie... Think about it - How many stories do you hear about packs being run? All the time... but how many times do you actually see somebody string 3 racks together? Pretty rare for 99.9% of all pool rooms to have somebody who strings racks all the time. But if you listen to stories, it happens all the time all over the country lol

Running racks in a pool room is synonymous with the classic fish story :)

Your logic and your statistics are flawed. I would suggest that you get out more and play in different places against quality players. Then your opinion would change about how many racks people can run.

3 packs are common among decent players. 5 packs less so. 5 packs are common among pro players, 7 and 9 packs less so. I can't count the times good players have ran 3-4 packs on me in sets.

Hell, just two days ago I was up 4:1 and the guy ran out 3 games to tie it up and left me tough in the 4th. I lost.

You guys have to cut CaptiveBred some serious slack. I just looked at his profile.......Hey, I respect my elders......:)
