How much does your cue weigh?

My question is

if your favorite Pool room has a store in it selling cues, how can they not have a scale to weigh cues. Shooters, here in Wichita, have a Postal scale, on the end of their store counter for anyone to weigh their own cues, or new ones they are interested in.

I play with a 20.2 oz, and my break cue is 19.5 oz.

My Dave Jones 60" custom is 19.3 oz... although I find myself playing much more with my Bob Frey 60" SP, which is 18.8 oz... and my BK2 is 18.5 oz.

I believe that I could play pretty well with anything between 18.5 and 19.5 oz. without any difficulty adjusting. I've tried 18.0 oz. cues and I can easily tell a big difference.

Mine are in that 19-19.5 range too. I find the balance is important as some have noted. Butt heavy cues wear down my stroking arm after playing a few hours.

19.34 to be exact. I'm sure it would be lightly heavier with a new tip!:D
I grew up shooting with an 18oz. It is interesting that this thread started, because I just played with my old Brunswick, Willie Hoppe cue last night. I actually liked the weight...of course it doesn't hit anything like my Josey.

FWIW, my favorite playing cue weighs a smidgen over 19oz. Next favorite is 19 1/2 oz.

Can anyone recommend a decent electronic scale available on ebay?? Price?

Thanks for asking. The Petree jump/break weighs 19.348514 (with chalk). The Carmelli weighs 19.216538 (with chalk). I am thinking of taking the difference off of the shaft to have exactly the same measurements. I hope my scale is correct. One thousandth off, and I can't make a ball. I recommend for your playing cue between 19.216535-19.216539. These include any dust and fully chalked in a relatively high humidity room.

My Dominiak is 19oz. It just seems to be what feels right to me nowadays. My old snooker cue in England was a real heavyweight but I can't remember the exact weight now. Makes me wonder how I ever liked it!

Not having weighed my cues before this is what I got:
Preferred player = 17.74 oz
another player = 18.55 oz
Break/jump = 18.3 oz
just jump = 9.56 oz

My Predator and main player is 19

My bar player/custom true sneaky is 18

Personally I think that balance is more important to me than the weight of the cue...

Totally agreed. If a cue is more forward balanced, it feels lighter.
