How much to finish a John Davis Blank (Estimate)

I am not a huge fan of Davis blanks. I think you can find much better blanks or have the cuemaker make his own blank.

For $1000 or so and I wanted to have a cue made to my specifications, Rick Howard would be my first choice.

His veneer work is excellent, his cues play incredible, and he is a honest guy.

I wish you the best of rolls,

Ken
+1 for Rick Howard !!!

You do realize John Davis made blanks for Balabuska Palmer and many others don't you

I'm sure he knows.
Arounceville Makes some of the nicest blanks I've seen. I don't own a cue made from one of his blanks, but I've been told by one of the most respected cue makers on the planet that his blanks are the best he has ever seen. Not taking anything away from Davis, they are a quality blank, and probably the most well know. But, he is so well know because he has been doing it for a long time and has been putting out good blanks for years.
The maker is the reason a cue demands a certain price, no matter who made the blank.

Arounceville does make pretty good blanks.
I just got a hold of coco-birdseye blank.
Frankly, his is the only blank I'd work on now.

To answer the op's question, a maker would normally charge 3 times the cost of the part plus labor .
A self-respecting cue maker should charge at least $1000 for a Davis blank cue imo.

John Davis

Like I said I have the pleasure of calling John a friend.
I got into blank building because I wanted a Davis blank and thought maybe I would see if I could make one.
I wouldn't even have known that there is a market for high end full splice blanks if it wasn't for John or Burton(I am aware of johns many accomplishments through the years)
If the op is still in the market for a Davis blank check out superiorcues.com
Martin has a number of ready made blanks available

Can I get on your list for a Arounceville conversion? :)

Depend on who you send it to. I've had two finished and I think they were both above $500 to finish. If interested I am getting ready to sell one of them

From my understanding, some of the best say you are at the top of the line for blanks.
Jason

I have heard this from TOP cuemakers that will not use a John Davis blank but would use one of andrew's. I am sitting on an african blackwood blank just waiting for me to start the project.
