How often do cuemakers update their website

I know some Cuemakers don't have webpages or use webmaster to maintain their site. But how often do you update your cue pictures and other data on your site? Or are you just too busy making cues?

Not nearly often enough. My oldest boy built and maintains my site. My server is one of his best friends. Although I send him pictures of most cues that I build, they seem to seldom make it to the web-site. I used to have a small 3.1 meg. camera that took pretty good pictures. I had a light set-up that I just needed to plug in and slide in the cue and it had ample light for good pictures. I have a pro Nikon film 35mm camera but it is about useless with everything gone digital. I bought a Nikon digital camera body and flash just so that I could use the lenses from my other Nikon. Trouble is, I bought another lathe and it went where my light set-up was. Now I hang the cue in a hall way against a gray cabinet but there is not nearly enough light as I work late at night. This makes the camera use a much higher ASA speed and it creates a lot of noise in the photos. They are not nearly as clear now and my boy, who is a perfectionist, won't post them. I need to get a better lighting set-up going again but there never is enough room.

I only build custom cues anyway so I never have cues for sale on the web but it gives people an idea of what something similar would cost.

I have needed to add photos to mine for some time. I have a friend who did mine for me, at the time I did not have many good photos. I really need to make a good photo studio setup to take nice pictures. I am the same as Dick as I generally do custom orders so I don't have many cues on hand to sell. I just wanted the website for the contact info and some pics of previous work. Chris.

We are too busy to update the site, when I'm on the computer it's like 10min bursts then back to it, I was dealing with a guy on a cue yesterday and today and he emailed me alot and then I was working so it took me 3 hours to return one of his emails, 2 on the next one, so finaly he calls me a says what the hell man, I'm trying to buy this cue from you and you take 2-3 hours to email me back, what the hell are you doing that is more important, and he's serious, (NO OFFENCE TO ANY ONE)so I say to him some cue makers spend time on the computer trying to sell cues, and get people to order them, and some cuemakers spend time in the shop working on cues and trying to catch up on orders. Needless to say he was suprised and appologized and bought the cue. I've posted 4 cues this past weekend, one of which is the one sold, I've got others done but I've got 11 that have been ordered for awhile that have been completed with this batch of cues, so instead of getting pics and descriptions on our site, we are spending time getting these orders out the door.

Thats why I haven't updated lately,

We usually try to update our website when we have new cues for sale. It depends a lot on my wife's health. She's had a tough time recovering from heart attacks and has been in and out of the hospital for another issue, recently. When she's down, we don't get much done and the business waits.

We are about to have a 15% off sale in the next few days, so we're planning to get some new cues and other stuff posted on the site.

How's that for a shameless plug?

Always, it only takes a few minutes.

posting

I have not posted enough. Time work who knows why not. I have a full time job running an internet company and a small telephone company. Days go by like seconds weeks like hours. Some place in there I am trying to squeeze cues in. It takes forever to build a cue at this pace. One good thing the wood has time. I host build and maintain my site and about 6 others. Any one looking for hosting??? hahaha..

Out of curiosity, I'm bumping this thread back to the top...

Not near enough. I am like Dick - there is not enough time. And I have a shameless plug too --- just updated my website and will again next week (maybe, hopefully).

We just updated ours with my newest creations and started our 15% off Summer Sale.
