Wasn't sure which category to put myself, as I started in college at age 18, but since I did everything after that, I put myself in the last category...except for one outing to my sister's brand new poolroom in her garage where I promptly tore the felt on my first time.

What a ride it's been!

You can come over and tear my felt anytime!! :D

I would have to answer yes on all three questions

That is sort of the point. Of course everyone wants to win but there is that idea that "but as long as I played my best...". If you ask Earl Strickland , Efren Reyes, Willie Mosconi, Mike Sigel etc. what their main focus is, they would resoundingly state that they want to beat people and win. I could care less if I played my best in the match, as long as I beat my opponent.

The point is that it is a personality trait. Everybody say they hate losing, but alot of people just dislike it. There are not many people who actually have that competitive streak in them that they honesly deteste the thought of losing. For guys like Tiger, a loss is an afront to their very existence. Its not something they learn to hate, its something they whave always hated.

I don't understand the concept of accepting winning though. That doesn't make a lot of sense. You make it sound as though Daulton disliked winning.

I was eight when i was introduced to the game. The first time i ever played pool, it was at my friends house. He had one of thost multi game tables so there was like a smaller than barbox size pool table on it. I only played pool a couple of times at a local pool hall (which i went back to few weeks before and totally sucks now, changed owners) because my parents didnt like pool halls (thank you movies and tv.....) and i didnt exactly have a lot of money either. After a long break, picked up the game seriously approx 2-3 years ago. Parents still dont like pool halls, but i have my way around that. So i guess throw me into the 12-18 range.

Actually ...

I started right before my 12th birthday as Dad brought home a little 6' Pool table for the basement (it would not handle a bigger table). I shot around on it some, but did not decide that I wanted to learn the sport until I was
14 years old. At that age, in Dodge City, Ks., the only place to play was
Kline's drive in, which had housed a milk company in the building before
Klines, and they turned a 'warehouse portion' on the building into a Pool
room including a Snooker Table. All my free time was spent there mostly,
other than sneaking into bars to play. Papa Kline was the Grandpa, Noble was the son that ran it. They were both great.

All the kids dropped into Klines while dragging Wyatt Earp Boulevard, and I once won an Ice Cream Cone eating contest there by eating a total of
23 dips of Ice Cream cones..... lol

I started to play around 6. I knew what I was doing around the age of 8. I started to get serious about it around the age of 12 or 13, when I started playing tournaments, and leagues. I am 20 now, and 9-ball has become my heroin.
