How safe is my cue?

Hey guys,
I had a cue shipped to me by UPS and I didn't make it home in time to get it. It was signature required, so they will redeliver on Monday. My question is, Is it safe from warpage or whatever in the back of a UPS truck over the weekend? It's gonna be hot and humid this weekend, so I'm pretty worried. Thanks.:confused:

I hope you have better luck that I have. Out of 4 cues I have bought that required shipping, only
1 came in straight. It was a 14mm Axiom jump/break. Some force out there seems to want me to
never own a completely straight playing cue.

Good luck though, and let me know how it turns out. In my case it was cold weather though. I
think the cues had several stops, going from cold outside to hot inside.

Did they put a condom on it, and fill the container with dry ice!!!!!

It is a little late to worry about it now if they didn't!!!

My wife works for UPS and she says they unload the trucks back into the building. They don't leave them in the trucks!

But you can call the 1-800 number and they normally deliver until late in the evening. You might get them to drop it by tonight, or you might be able to meet the driver somewhere and pick it up.
 
It is common practice with UPS and FedEx that the trucks are unloaded at night back into the terminals. Not sure about UPS, but in the case of FedEx Ground, they even pull their trucks into the terminal at night....stationing them at their spots on the conveyor belts for ease of loading.

Manwon is right...if there is going to be damage, it would have happened enroute already, not likely at the terminus destination.

what was the price of the cue? if it's a gina, then i'd be worried friggin' sick.

I have this issue with anything I order. Thankfully I have a place of work that I can have all my deliveries sent there. I never miss a package again(unless it's US Post Office on Saturday)

I can tell you that from experience, if an item is to go missing or get damaged, it is most likely to happen at the 'hub' terminals than at a destination terminal. Most every package will stop and be scanned at the 'hub' terminal before moving on to it's final destination. A trick I have noticed is that someone will scan at the 'hub', and then the item will never get actually loaded to the trailer.....leaving the destination terminal with the loss when a claim is filed.

We once received an empty box for a 52" plasma tv! I wondered how the heck someone could just make an unboxed 52" plasma tv 'disappear'?! Some things never cease to amaze me...lol. I am sure that your cue is fine.

For future reference, and peace of mind....anything $500 or less, I usually have shipped via USPS Priority Mail/Insured...but I have a free PO Box, so my stuff is always safe. Anything $501-$1000 I will pay to have shipped FedEx SuperSaver (2nd Day, morning), over $1K gets shipped FedEx Overnight...period. When it comes to cues, I do not deal with UPS at all....just a personal thing.

Final note....especially with UPS...if the package has ANY obvious damage to the outside of the package, refuse it! Do not sign for it!! Once you sign for it, a whole can o' worms can open up on ya...UPS does not like to pay claims. Just an FYI.

Glad to hear its OK !!!!!!

I am having my new TS shipped next day air and it will be delivered to my work address where there is always someone there to sign for it!!
