How should I repair/seal a small hole in the finish?

I looked for threads on the subject but didn't find anything. I have a fairly inexpensive player that has a small hole in the finish (about the diameter of a pencil). I wouldn't consider paying for a refinish for this cue, but would like it to look respectable and prevent moisture from getting under and worsening the problem. I found a couple things online that suggested nail polish, super glue, and polyurethane. Any recommendations would be great. Thanks guys!

I think those are called fisheyes. I personally would not worry about it, but if you really felt compelled to fill it in, I would try a clear drying glue and then maybe try to quickly lay some wax paper over it to mold it in a curved shape. It wont look perfect im sure.

I have one of these as well, I went to a professional painter who lives next door to me (not a cue guy). He told me just to not worry about it (as in it is too much trouble to deal with correctly), so I never did. Hope my experience helped. Good luck.

then buff it out on a on a buffing wheel or hand polish with polish compound. finger nail polish is to soft................................

You probably would like to do a CA (Super Glue ) finish if it is a hole as you described.

Add a bit of glue just as you would do if you were doing auto body work. At least if it were me. You don't need to fill it in all at once.
It will dry quicker this way.
Also, consider using the Gel Super Glue. (Loc Tite) as it is a bit thicker and won't tend to run.

Just put a bit in the hole and use a tooth pick to mold it somewhat.
Let it dry thoroughly.
Repeat with glue until you have built it up.
Sand with no lower than 400 (auto body wet and dry) grit paper once you have the glue built up.
When you are sanding, no doubt you will scuff the surrounding area of the finish.
Just be careful not to mar to large an area.
When you have the glue built up enuff, you can sand it down and feather
the glue to match the rest of the finish.
One package of 1000 grit paper (wet and dry auto body paper) is enuff to finish it out.
The Super Glue will polish up nicely.
Cue makers still use a Super Glue finish on their cues.
Get a cream scratch remover ( I use Scratch Dr.) to use as a buffing compound. It is one of the cheaper ones and works just fine.
The area surrounding the hole will also polish and buff out for you.
Don't be afraid if you see the Super Glue get a little white and cloudy as it will polish out with the wet and dry paper to a nice clear finish.
You can achieve great results doing it this way if you are careful.
The total cost of supplies should be much cheaper than a repair man will charge. I would normally charge a minimum of $30 for a job like this depending on the area and number of chips that need to be repaired.
