how stable is the flat laminate maple

The flat laminate maple looks promising.
It's heavier by approx. 30%.
It's seems stiffer.
My question is how stable is it? I want to
build some cues that could be thrown in the
trunk and survive.

So far it seems to be very good. Just wondering
if anyone has any experiences with this stuff.

it can move

About 15 years ago I was cutting some flat lam shafts and tapered them too fast and they warped. I think if you cut it right it is a very stable wood. But it is wood, so it can warp

This is just my experience but for shafts it moves just like most maple.

I agree, I bought some aged stock that came from the Falcon factory and they moved as much as regular maple.

Hi Ernie,

I think that with the lengths you are using for the nose-piece you should be good to go.

Best to ya Bud, KJ

trunk

The thing that concerns me is when you said that can be thrown in the trunk. Nothing will survive the constant heating up and cooling down that will create. The only thing that is destroyed quicker and easier - is glue. That wood product is about 30 - 40 percent glue. You do the math.
