How thick is cuetec shaft laminate

I've got a cuetec that I bought a while ago, but a couple weeks after I bought it, I realized the mistake I had made: the fiberglass shaft is a pain in the butt.

Is there actually any wood in cuetec's standard shafts, or are they completely fiberglass. As well, if there is wood in there somewhere, has anyone ever sanded down to it?

I figure if I've got nothing better to do on a saturday afternoon then why not, but I want to make sure that this isn't lost effort.
 
back when I thought that I might actually prefer playing with a cuetec, I might have done that. To put in 200 dollars to a cue that I don't even really like the feel of isn't very appealing to me though.

Maybe later if I've got some extra cheese.

i did once out of curiosity
had a trashed shaft, so i figured i'd experiment on it
there was 1 MM (40/1000ths) of fiberglass over the wood
that's .5mm a side, 1mm total diameter
 
I've always wondered why they put a ferrule on a fiberglass shaft....
....the whole damn shaft is a ferrule.:confused:
 
Cuetec now makes a LD shaft called R360 that is all wood (4 piece radial), with a carbon tube centered in the tip end, and a short ferrule.
It is 12.75mm, has a 15" pro taper, and will screw on any Cuetec butt. I have one on my Cuetec Edge cue. I would say the LD property, is about 2/3rds that of a Predator shaft.

Considering I'm not really even gonna use the shaft, and it's 13mm, I might try taking off a mm to see if there is actually some wood down there for comfortable play.

Otherwise, idk. Maybe some day when I just have too much money, I'll buy an ob, and see how that plays.

the cuetec thunderbolt shaft is real would with a carbon fiber core... actually feels nice...
