How to condition your shaft

SlipStic sounds interesting. I’ve used many other waxes and/or treatments, and my gripe is the inconsistency. Right after treatment the shaft is slick as can be. Two hours later it’s less slick, two hours later even less, and so on. I use Magic Eraser for a deep clean on a dirty shaft, smooth with 600 and coat with thinned sanding sealer or shellac. Polishing is done with 1800, 4000, 8000 abrasive cloth. Maintenance is usually just an alcohol wipe and a quick burnish with leather. The 4000 and 8000 comes out only when needed, maybe monthly or so. That’s given me the most consistently smooth shaft without attracting dirt or chalk like some of the treatments have a tendency to do. For those who use SlipStic, how does it hold up over the long term?

It depends where you are located due to the climate and conditions. I am currently in Florida, and a treatment usually last about 2-3 months. When I was in the desert climate of El Paso a treatment would last a little bit longer. The creator of the product, Pete LaFond posts infrequently on this forum - his number is listed on the slipstic website - give him a call and he will be able to answer all of your questions.

Hey Blackjack!

Do you use the blue (cleaner condition.) or red bottle (condition.)?

I have used both products, both work better than anything else I have ever used. Pete is always advancing his products to meet the needs of players, and all of his products are environmentally safe.

I've tried Slipstic, but it didn't stay smooth for me. I had to go back to my Q-wiz and rub it off.

Are you not supposed to use anything for the 2-3 months between treatments? It seems to me that would be fine if you never sweat or get any type of dirt on your shaft. In which case you probably don't need it in the first place. Otherwise, how are you supposed to get any gunk buildup off without removing the Slipstic?

I've tried it too. And it doesn't stay on that long. Although, it's the best I've tried, and I've tried everything!

No more than a week for me. Using the blue bottle. I've heard the red bottle (conditionner only) is better... haven't tried yet.
