How to determine who's best

Say you have two players, and they're woofing at each other about who's the best, at a particular game. What's the best way to prove it? If you choose other, elaborate in the thread.

To clarify the poll choices, "Ahead set of races" would be like a normal ahead set, only instead of getting ahead by a certain number of games, you have to get ahead by a certain number of short-to-medium races in order to win.

Does your answer depend on what game it is? Assume that for 14.1, "race" refers to a match to a set number of points.

I think long ahead sets. If you play races, someone can eventually win by one rack - one roll could decide. That's not as decisive as someone getting ahead and putting their opponent out. IMO

If you are trying to find the best pool player then have to play an all around. Straight pool, 9 or 10 ball, 8 ball, one pocket.
