1) First, go to http://www.google.com

2) Next, click on "Maps" at the top left side.

3) Put in a City and State in the Search Maps rectangle in the top middle, and click Search.

4) Once a map is displayed, it will list your location to the left of the map.
Click on 'Search Nearby' underneath your location. In the search block that pops up, enter 'Billiard rooms' and click search.

5) Red teardrops with letters in them will pop up on the map. Click in each teardrop to get information about the place and it's location (name, address, review info, etc.)

You can do this for any location, where you are, or if you are going to visit another location.

This will work well as long as you keep in mind that the rooms it finds may be closed, may have moved, may just plain suck. The several so-called billiard pool room sites list sites that have been closed for years.

I think we need a sticky post for real scouted locations with a linked map.

Google is great but until it can tell me which rooms are veal and which aren't, I'll just keep bugging you folks!

You can also type things like "Pool hall, Wilmington" or "Billiards, Springfield" to find your pool hall. Anything is better than seeing a half dozen threads titled "Any pool halls near _____" every single day.

Google doesn't tell which rooms are terrible or unwelcoming to people of other races. Google doesn't tell you which rooms are more club oriented. These threads asking about rooms really saves valuable time when deciding which room to try. There are over 80 rooms in the Houston area, but only 4 that I would go to or recommend to a friend.

Just my opinion.

And everyone in Houston has a different opinion about which room(s) they like, so those who inquire are right back to square one.

Don't get me wrong, if someone came on here and asked said, "I'm trying to decide between ____ and ____ pool halls in Houston, what do you think?" I wouldn't have a problem.

It's just a never-ending string of people who are too lazy to put in 5 seconds of their own time to do research, and so they pester us.
