How to focus and be blind to surroundings

Allow me to provide some empathetic intervention and straightforward advice, Asbani.

You definitely need to clear out the unproductive, and focus-adverse commands you’ve unknowingly programmed into your subconscious, and it can be done far easier than you’d ever imagine. We ourselves (and external feeds -- media, other people, etc.) inject true and false things daily into our subconscious and our subconscious takes them all as truths. Give yourself "truths" that will lastingly and healthfully benefit you:

The below audio will definitely help you with the *positive* reprogramming and reinforcement thereof (don’t be mislead by the snooker title – this audio is tremendously result-producing for all cue sports with regard to focus and performance):

And they have specific ones for virtually any area of life that a person would like to improve:

These folks know plenty about human behavior and mind strengthening and conditioning for sports and life in general.

Asbani: The billiards/snooker one I referenced above (and all others on various life-improvement subjects in their catalog) are meant to be used specifically and exclusively when you are somewhere (generally at home) when you can quietly relax and listen to the speaker's words during the duration of the audio.

With repeated sessions of this relaxed awareness you (your subconscious actually) will gain a continually deeper, *very positive* attitude about your potential to focus and perform at a much-improved level. And not least, your ability to absorb and learn about the sport from a variety of role-model sources (including easy visualization of your own best performances) will also be conditioned in a positive way and greatly enhanced. Champion athletes in a wide variety of sports have benefited for years from these types of audios.

I appreciate all the comments and recommendations and suggestions.

I wanted to ask about the audios, are they meant for me to listen to them during the day or during the match on iPod? I actually got a PM also regarding this, a guy wanted me to buy a 30min audio for Concentration-MP3 and another audio called Self-confidence-MP3

Now do these actually work? I never seen a pro with an iPod playing

People can't deny the effects music can have on our emotions and vicariously our concentration. If you're going the music route it'd be better to make a playlist of songs that either calm you down or completely draw you into them.

Personalization over generalization in this case.

Just like training horses, start off with a radio turn it up a little every time you practice. Work up to a marching band. When someone can fire a shotgun while you are down on a shot your done.

Do a quick google search of "exercises that improve focus and concentration". There are a lot out there.

The one that I like is to grab a book and sit somewhere quiet. Now without using your fingers try to count all of the words on an entire page. Try to only think about counting. As soon as your mind wanders to something else you need to restart. It becomes very exhausting but it helps.

After a few short sessions you'll notice that you are able to pick a contact point on the object ball and easily retain your focus on that one spot throughout your stroke. Your eyes aren't bouncing all around and you aren't' thinking about anything else around you.

Focus is a huge part of pool. Good luck!
