How to get back in stroke

Me thinks Mikey pulled the wool over your eyes.....randyg

BTW, Mike said he uses very little English - you don't need to. In his earlier days he used to English it up unnecessarily.

As to the other poster, I didn't miss any of his conversation. Of coursed on a dead end straight shot you wouldn't use English. A friend of mine claims to have one of the best books every written on pool, and in that book it was recommended using English on straight-in shots too.

Randy, all I can say is this is why we have teachers (thoses who can't do) and those who can do, to be blunt. I don't remember anyone, including my wife, telling me that you advocate throwing the object ball into the pocket.

To everyone, I think Randy's classes are great and he is a fine person, and I like the fact that he searches world wide for advice from the pros in order to improve his classes. Perhaps Randy is one of those people who despises Mike Sigel, thus becoming unable to learn anything from a good source.

Additionally, another weaker player on our Masters team took this advice and his game improved 40%. He actually has 60% fewer misses and his position has improved.

Randy, if you don't believe in this, then I suspect that you love Dr. Dave's articles on how to shoot :D - you and the rest of the teachers.

As far as my game goes, rarely do I NEED to use english to make a shot. And to be said even better, I only NEED it to keep from scratching on certain shots that may be left. English is really for positioning the cue ball. Using it for more than that makes it become a reliability in your game and you end up using it on every shot. A great semi-pro I play with has this same issue in his game. He is a great player, gets out from everywhere usually, but it has bit him the worst way, when all that is needed & required for shape is a slow roll with middle or top, he uses english and the throw bobbles the ball or whatnot and he loses from it. I actually won money off him giving him 5 attempts on a shot to make it without english, and he couldn't do it. I dont think anyone ever wants to take that bet and not win it..lol
