I think he(?) is suggesting that somebody simply ponied up the money for a board of 8 'qualified' players just to have a free, uncontested entry to APA singles.
Nobody likes people that simply pop on here and drop insinuations and no information, which is why we all can't stand one another. Just say whatever you've got to say or bugger off.

I have seen qualifiers with less than 8 people. The money owed for the board is divided between all players. So I guess if you want to spend $100+ to qualify for regionals it probably makes no difference to the LO.
What does it cost to enter a board now?

same here. he cancelled a few because he was short of players. he just rescheduled them afy=ter he had enough commited to playing.
you just cant buy your way in with my lo. a few guys here offered to buy and he said no way was that happening.
That's probably the way it is in most places, but the guys that let it happen spoil the impression for many others.

Sometimes the LO isn't around when a qualifier happens. The LO provides the materials and someone else runs the qualifier. That person then returns all the completed paperwork and board fees to the LO.
A board could be falsified, but that would probably be detected by the LO or the APA. Not saying a falsified board can't slip through, just that it's harder than you might think.
I had a player falsify a board once. I suspended the player for a year. I also confronted the other members who supposedly played in the qualifier. Those who fessed up were given probation, and those who denied it also got a year suspension.

If you can have a board with less than 8 people who is to say you can't have a board with 2 people?
In our area you can run a board whenever you'd like. If a team on league night wants to have a "team board" the office will send along the paperwork for the board and we just turn it back in (along with the money) with our league packet. I guess if you really wanted to you could buy a board for what? about $160 I think, but really, what for?
Nice 1st post. Did you play yourself for each match or not play at all? Depending on if drinks and friends were involved I would have started barking to my other self, made them post side action to make the match worth a sweat, and then bought a shot for both the winner and loser when the match was done.

Minimum board is 8 players. I'm in full agreement that nobody should be able to "purchase" a singles board. Also agree that if you don't play your way through, you'll likely not get anywhere in the Regional tournament...which is what you have to win to get to the nationals in Vegas.

You guys are fairly thick.... For some people it might be worth just buying the board to not let their speed out until regionals.. Oh wait I forgot people don't sandbag in the APA... LOL!
Minimum board is 8 players. I'm in full agreement that nobody should be able to "purchase" a singles board. Also agree that if you don't play your way through, you'll likely not get anywhere in the Regional tournament...which is what you have to win to get to the nationals in Vegas.

Are you saying that APA requires each board to have a minimum of 8 people?
My previous statement was based on how they have done them here in the past. Sometimes you get a full board and sometimes you don't. The price was raised per player to cover the $160 in the case the board wasn't full.
TheNewSharkster...I may be incorrect. I have been out of the league for many years. When I was an LO, they were 16 man boards @ $10 each.

Yes, because getting disqualified for "letting their speed out" in regionals is so much smarter than cruising through an 8 person bracket. Pay all that money instead of work an easy board? If somebody's that stupid, they're doing it wrong anyways.
You've got it nailed down, so why not take it off like a boss?
