How to install index plate

After xmas i'm going to purchase a rear chuck from hightower for my 13x40enco lathe. Where can i purchase a indexing plate and how is the best way to mount it? I have an idea, its prolly wrong tho, but here it is.
Center the plate on the back of the rear chuck adapter, drill and tap 3 small holes in the adapter. Mount a small L shaped bracket on the lathe
for the indexing pin.

I think you would be better to drill the holes in the big front chuck an make a bracket there for indexing.
