How To Remove Engraving From Butt Cap

Spotted a mid-level cue at the pawn shop this morning.

Priced right, actually a lot lower than what it could be selling for. It's also been sitting there for a while, based on the dust accumulation.

The downside is that the butt cap is etched/engraved, and the case is monogrammed.

Removing the monogram in the case looks easy enough, but the butt cap...

Any ideas on how to remove the engraving from the butt cap would be appreciated.

fill in the engraving and paint over it, may be easier and may work out better than having the thing cut off on a lathe.

I would just have the butt cap changed....with black or brown linen fiber.
....it's not a lot of money.
Should be somebody around you that can do it....you seem to be in a good location. :)

Butt out

If it's worth it, you could have a new butt cap turned for it... might be more hassle than it's worth. You can remove the black filler from the engraving, making it less noticeable, and/ or fill it with white material.

You basically have two options:
1) Turn down the butt cap which will reduce the diameter.
2) A cuemaker can fabricate a new butt cap.

Option 2 would be easier and less expensive.

3.) Change your name to match the butt cap's (AND the case's) name.

You're welcome,
